I will get the blu ray if it is something worth seeing. I hate movie theaters with a fucking passion. I hate the smell, the people, the atmosphere. I worked in one from high school through some of college. Fuck that noise.

I will consider going to VIP ones that have lazy boys and keep you separated from other fucks.

The only time that I don't seem to have trouble with complete idiots, in a theatre, is when I go to the first show of the day. The little shits don't roll out of bed before noon, on weekends. I can sleep in until 10:00am and still get to see the movie in peace.

Yep, we have a Movie Tavern in Williamsburg. Carry my tanker mug and fill it with Shocktop, and order some food. Awesome place. Only had one issue there and it was from some young lady who asked her mom 50 billion questions during the movie. Not her fault though as she had downs syndrome and was just trying to follow the movie.

Not really saying much

The thing that really got me was Catwoman on the bike and most of what she did while on it and the stupid batcopter.

She blows up a very thick pile full of cars easily, but when she kills a human, the destructive power is not much at all. She then just oddly follows the other batmobile cars before remembering she can blow them up and then waits again. I will say she has the best aim in a movie ever. I think she never missed a shot that I can remember.

The bat was just dumb. Especially in the last chase. Batman just flies overhead for the most part doing nothing while catwoman does everything.

Yeah, and it wasn't good. We are just so willing to accept carp nowadays. Avengers blew goats and was a ripoff of Transformers Dark Side of the Moon and yet people who bashed the fuck out of transformers were saying how great Avengers was... No, it wasn't, it sucked ass too.

Don't give a shit about plausibility. They used it fucking retarded, all he did was runaway/showboat/fly overhead in it before the end sequence with the bomb. Transformers sucked because there was no story and no plot, even for a Bay movie, it was bad. Avengers was damn near a perfect comic book movie except for the stupid story for Black Widow and Hawkeye. Dark Knight Rises was a very, very good movie, it had holes and deviated from canon, but very good, Dark Knight was as close to perfect as a movie on the whole as they get and Rises was 80 if Knight was 95. Why would you bash a reimagined helicopter( thats all it was, with outboard ducted fans for direction/stability) but not poo poo a motorcycle with the biggest Mickey Thompson Sportsman tires and would roll its wheels through a turn or climb a wall and flip...all after launching itself from the front of the Tumbler(?:?:) where it served as its front suspension..ugh. Its a comic book movie that tried to ground itself in as much reality as possible, thats why Bane had no Venom, but the mask was to numb pain, not jack his shit up like a super roid. You have to suspend reality a bit because its a movie, about comic book characters. If you go into these movies expecting Citizen Kane with spandex, you're fucking retarded, think back to why you read comics when you were young and remember that the comics and their movies didnt change...you and your mentality did.

The story and plot of Transformers was the exact same story and plot as Avengers. SAME FUCKING PLOT... Avengers had better acting and better comedy, but the story and plot was a fucking carbon copy.

I bash the heli because it was a weak link in the plot. The idiotic motorcycle did a lot more to progess the story. The only point of including the heli in the rest of the movie was so they had it when it was time to get the bomb out of the city. That's it. It was a big fucking dildo in batman's asshole through the rest of the story.

I don't expect canon, I liked a lot of the deviations they made from canon in the first two a lot.

The movie wasn't awful, but it wasn't even close to good, much less very very good. I don't go expecting oscar winner movies when I go see a hero flick, I expected something fun to watch. I got something boring instead.

Nolan's Batman is not about fun, its a darker edgier Dark Knight almost a Miller style portrayal. Batman is not a fun character(dont you dare bring up that abortion known as Bat-Mite!) no matter how he was portrayed before. A ton of people loved how Dark Burton made his movies, but to me they were just as campy as the TV show.

What is entertaining to you, then? Just comedies, or great special effects?

The point of Batman is to show a guy who lost a lot, and transformed himself in order to help people. Along with his girlfriend who actually cares about the city and about doing what's right. It's a morality play. It's not supposed to be just explosions and special effects.

And I don't give a fuck about the previous versions of Batman. They sucked in comparison. Kind of like how Roger Moore sucked compared to Daniel Craig. A real secret agent would actually know how to fight, and would need to take his job deadly serious, not be cracking stupid jokes all the time.

Entertainment is only one aspect of movies. Another aspect is to be inspired by them. A movie like Ace Ventura is a great comedy, and sure it's great entertainment, but it doesn't inspire anyone or cause them to wonder or develop their values.

There is a time & place for every type of movie.

Good stories are entertaining. Schlinder's list is an example that I used, it's a great story and definitely can inspire people, it is also a very entertaining movie. It holds your attention and sucks you into the story, which is what a great movie does...

Entertainment is every aspect of a movie. If they don't entertain and suck you into the story, then they don't make money because people don't want to see them. Even action and morality has to be entertaining.

As far as being inspired by Batman, that worked out real well in Colorado.

***** SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS *****

It's odd that "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" was mentioned. I had the same opinion about that movie: great up until the last few minutes. For both movies, the directors / writers somehow took all the heroism and badassery of two of the most badass characters in all of geekdom, rolled it up, and smoked it in a matter of seconds. For Transformers, it was Optimus Prime, electro-mechanical role model to all boys of the 80's, begging for his life. Then, not three seconds after Megatron saves his sorry ass, he up and kills Megatron for his trouble.

For Batman, it was knocking the crap out of Bane only to be stabbed once by some scrawny whore and reduced to a blubbery pile of worthlessness. Are you shitting me? "Oh, but his heart was broken." Bullshit. Batman doesn't cry. That's what the damn mask is for. Batman had no relationship to Miranda/Talia other than "that's the bitch that just poked me in the spleen with a blade, so I should break most of her bones." Bruce Wayne, yeah, sure, he can cry and feel betrayed and collapse into a worthless pile all he wants. But not the goddamn Batman.

Optimus Prime doesn't beg for mercy. The goddamn Batman doesn't cry when he's stabbed, shot, double-crossed, betrayed by his own damn momma, or poked in the eyes. Those are fairly simple concepts which, you'd think, would be A-number-fucking-1 on the list of "things our movie heroes won't be doing in our films because if they were to do them it would absolutely ruin the entire trilogy in a matter of seconds."

Other than that, great movies...

Disagree, by that point there was no Batman vs Bruce Wayne. All the bad guys knew he was Bruce Wayne and half of the good guys knew too, so when Bruce Wayne got stabbed by the one person he trusted he was shocked.

The thing that still erks me the most about this Batman series is the microwave emitter that vaporizes water in Batman Begins. Why the fuck does it not cook humans? LOL

In some seriousness, though, there is this growing trend in hollywood to make heroes more "human" by pussifying them. I don't think that's necessary. You can have heroic icons who are stronger than average people in public, "on the job," and explore their humanity in "private." The first two films did a great job of this, there was no reason to turn Batman into a blubbering toddler in the third.

Obviously his Bat-cowl is too tight and compresses his larynx.

I do agree that movie heroes arent as badass as they should be. I was never very into the Harry Potter series but I did see all of the movies and I was really disappointed that he never progressed beyond being a weakling that got lucky some times. By the last one he should have been dominating folks.

Fighting wasn't the point of the harry potter series, it was a kids book. JK never really did write the action scenes very well. She was more about character development and their interactions with each other. She wrote him to be a kid, not a child god among men. She even made clear in the last book that he was slightly above average when fighting everyone else and only exceptionally powerful when confronting Voldemort because of carrying part of Voldemort's soul.

The amount of hype and faith the other wizards put in Harry Potter was disproportionate to his skill which is what bothered me.

I really didn't get that from the books. The general public were all super impressed he survived a killing curse and wondered if he was invincible I guess, but the adults he knew treated him like a kid with no power a lot.

The only one who really knew what Harry was going to do was Dumbledore, and he pretty much knew why/how to everything it seemed like... The adult he knew treated him like the kid he was for the most part. They didn't let him take part in the Order and other stuff. Harry just ran around behind their backs from what I remember.
