Well this should be fun. Says it was my license plate and got hit 3 times. I don't go to Dallas so I know it wasn't me.

I had that happen to me last month. I called the number and the operator immediately acknowledged that it was a "misread" as if they already knew it was wrong but they were waiting to see if they could still get some money out of me.

Called and they had a couple numbers backwards. All good now.

Use my parents' EZPass every now and then and they got a letter in the mail saying they had an ezpass fine. They asked me when I went to some far away state (forget which one)... I said, not recently.. Was the exact same make and model (2010+ VW GTI) but obviously wasn't mine since the plate was nothing like mine.

Simple call in makes them fix it - seems like a ploy to get paid for misreads.

Odds are that it's a completely automated system, with no human verification. Our 407 ETR (electronically monitored toll highway) uses in car transmitters and cameras, for those who don't have the transmitters, but they actually have a set of human eyes verify the plate number. If it isn't clearly legible to human eyes, then there's no charge.
