School sponsored or not, I have yet to hear about a school that doesn't have harassment in some shape, form, or fashion. Kids are evil little fuckers and they don't need a reason to harass somebody.

This!!

Wash the sand out of your vagina! I bet that wouldn't carry half the negative issues if it were say in michigan, a state that was shelter for many ex-slaves.

Honestly though, I don't think redneck means you're a racist fuck, just kinda dumb. It's like a slightly different version of hillbilly.

What what?

But some students and their family members weren't amused. Among them: the Rev. Ozetta Kirby, pastor of Holy Trinity Community AME Church in Mesa and vice president of the East Valley chapter of the NAACP.

"I'm sitting here crying and praying," said Kirby, whose grandson Marcus Still is a 16-year-old junior at the school.

"This thing really got to Marcus," Kirby said. "When you're in 11th grade, that can break you down and make you feel at the bottom rung of the whole society, where everybody is being jubilant. No kid should have to go through that. We all know the connotation of 'redneck.'

Grow the fuck up. No one has a right to be pacified if something offends them. DEAL WITH IT.

I'm outraged that they cancelled "White-Trash Wednesday"!!

The funny thing is the rednecks never get offended. It's everyone else with the delicate feelings!

I feel like I'm having Deja Vu.

Wasn't this exact situation played out a year or two ago somewhere else?

I thought that too, but after living in SC for several years I have to disagree. The true rednecks I've had the displeasure of meeting are fairly racist. Of course, that could just luck of the draw. Other then college and work I don't really go anywhere. Not the most likely places to run into the sort.

Back on topic though.. :lol

I guess you never watched "Are you faster then a Redneck"? They get offended all the time.

I find it funny that some students should just suck it up and deal with it when someone wears a confederate flag. But there are many here that will flip over gun control.

There are things that piss some off and don't even get noticed by others. But people can be unhappy about and speak their mind. Thats just life.

BTW I watch Duck Dynasty.

Freedom of speech and right to bear arms. Seems like there is something similar about those things, something that makes what you find funny not only unsurprising but expected.

People can get offended about all kinds of things and it seems like some are more susceptible than others. That is their right, just like it is mine to call them whiny bitches.

See, where they messed up was by calling it "Redneck Day."

I went to HS in a rural community and (I shit you not) they had a "drive your tractor to school day" which ended up being the defacto "Red Neck Day" because, well, I don't think I need to explain that one

Nobody complained except the custodians who would have to fix all the ruts in the soccer field :lmao:

I think that some people need to "open a dialogue" about understanding when people are making fun of themselves, not 'keeping you down.'

Redneck: A term that was originally coined to describe farmers and general labourers who frequently sport sunburn around the line of their shirt's collar; a 'red neck.'
