Meet the asshole who passes bikes in the HOV lane

Some guy just cruising along on his Harley gets passed on the left (between the lane and the wall) by this asshole.

This. I hate any bike, car, truck, or any other motorized vehicle that can't GTFO of the left lane.

Flow of traffic was 70
Motorcycle wasn't holding anyone up and was 3-4 seconds behind the car in front of him

You never pass in hov.
If you pass in HOV you are an automatic asshole

I take the HOV everyday, if you are going slower then the flow of reg traffic, while in the HOV lane, GTFO off the HOV lane

I disagree with the second half, I love people who go faster than me. They usually piss of the people in front of me to get out of the left lane leaving me no headache to deal with when I roll through.

... or get the hell out of the left lane, but half lane passes are bloody dangerous to the rider. Much better to slot in 6 feet off his rear wheel, then hammer the horn and constantly flash the blinkers.

Rider was not in left lane.
Rider was in HOV. HOV is not a passing lane.
Rider was going at the same speed as flow of traffic, maintaining same (proper) distance from car in front of him for at least 20 minutes.

The flow of traffic in the HOV lane at the time was equivalent to that of the passing lane.

HOV lane flow of traffic could be exactly 55 while all other lanes are 85. You cannot pass and you cannot exit HOV unless you are at entrance\exit to HOV lane.

HOV isn't to be always faster. It's to be always moving. There IS a privilege to driving in that lane and it isn't to be convenient to everyone. It is to be constantly moving without the interruption of merging traffic. There is no entering and exiting at a whim. And, there isn't passing allowed unless it's multiple lanes (like those I've been on through Houston). It's a single lane, you would have the Harley tailgate the driving he was keeping a distance from? If the driver that passed him was in such a hurry, he should have tried his luck with the traffic in the herd.

Maybe for followers of rules and regulations...but this country is no longer about that. We've become a "Imma gets mines" state, where everyone is entitled to everything whether they deserve it or not.

Our government will see too it that it stays that way too!

Its even worse out here in suburbia. Traffic is amess and there are a lot of bad/asshole drivers here so that makes it worse.

HOV lanes are big out here.......And when someone uses them, it's to pass congested traffic. Not very many people use it to "kick back" and enjoy some peace & quiet. :rolleyes:

If traffic isn't congested, and you have no desire to go faster than them, stay in the regular lanes. Just because your vehicle may be HOV-eligible doesn't mean you have to USE the HOV lane.

Oh, and here in Cali, lane-splitting is legal, so bikes often pass other HOV users.
