One of the guys on the Vette Barn had a low speed crash on his scooter. 20 mph and over the handlebars

He didn't bother to wear a helmet since he wasn't going far. :wtfru: Stitches, short term memory loss and two front teeth that had to be reset.

Just a reminder to be careful. He "thinks" he had a front tire go down

Wearing a (full-face) helmet in my accident in '03 is the reason I'm still here today. High-sided and faceplanted. As it is I still had extensive injuries (multiple broken/shattered bones in my face, lost 4 teeth, had to have 6 hours of reconstructive surgery and spent another 5 days in the hospital), but I lived.

Same here, in '00. I braked hard to avoid a car that started signalling a lane change after it had already come halfway into my lane. Avoided the car, but not the other rider who crashed behind me while trying to do the same. Came down bridged between my head and shoulder. Might as well have been a highside, with how fast my bike came out from under me. Fortunately the only injury was a collarbone that snapped like dry spaghetti, instead of a split head.

Today is 3-3-14 and he just posted this

Three root canals scheduled for tomorrow. Sprained wrist and sprained ankle that are really taking their time at healing. Front four teeth are still out of alignment to the point where I have trouble closing my teeth to chew.

Still fighting confusion, dizziness, fatigue and loss of memory with the concussion.

I'll say it again, too: if I'd been wearing a helmet, I'd have walked away and healed in considerably less time, without the ER visit, concussion, and teeth damage.

Anyone who wants to use my selfie as an avatar is welcomed and encouraged by me to do so, with the following caveat: You must have the text "Always Wear A Helmet When You Ride" on the image.

Good advice but a day late and dollar short
