Then my suggestion is that you don't bother. Starting last weekend the city closed a lane, each way, on the main east-west route into downtown Toronto. It's already causing chaos. People's commutes have increased by more than 30 minutes this morning and it's not going to get any better. This city isn't open for business.

It amazes me how traffic can destroy a city.

Agreed.. which is why I dread getting a job at Camp Mabry and having to commute from Hutto every day into the heart of the Austin traffic beast. :panic:

I am sorry to hear that . My wife and I love visiting Canada. Last year after touring Ottawa we put Toronto on this years list to visit.

Well whatever the traffic is there, you can bet that it's worse here. In recent studies our traffic came in as being worse than L.A..

Funny thing is that so far it isn't seriously impacting my trip home because I get on the highway when the lanes are already reduced, then when it opens up again there's almost no traffic. It took me about 10 minutes longer to get home than usual, last night, compared to the additional hour that many are complaining about. As long as I can get onto the highway fairly quickly, I'm OK. I can see that someone is bound to go postal though, before this is over.

If you do something like fly in and then use transit, you might be OK. I wouldn't plan on driving around much though. The north end is OK, but downtown is a royal mess.
