View Full Version : Got new boots, they already have been tested

Well, yesterday got my boots. Decided that I would wear them to break them in when Cutty, Ebbs and I went out riding tonight. Soooooo, we were riding and I was going to take a corner to ride into a small town for gas. I slowed down to turn into the corner and smash, crash, boom....... I went down. Myside is scraped up. My knee is too. My visor popped off my helmet. Cutty will probably add more in here too. The frame slider that was on the bike snapped so didn't really do any good. Bikes not to bad, scratches down the side, broken tuen signal, and broke the shifter off. My head hurts some right now and my muscles are really sore.. But I am just glad it wasn't worse. I bought ontwo's boots and they held up great. Pretty sure my leg would have been worse had i not had them on.
Ebbs took pictures of the bike. I don't think that we have any of my road rash.
Any idea what caused it? What frame sliders did you have on the bike?
Glad you are alright, welcome to the club of those that have.

The highway wasn't highway. It was highway with the chippings gravel. So yeah. Tires came out from under me and down i went.
Cutty will fill you in on the frame sliders.... I have no idea.

It had Lockhart Phillips sliders on it. after seeing that JUNK!!
So... on order for the SV
-New shift lever
-Left side turn signal
-Sliders
That gets it rideable again. Other than that just cosmetic damage. Scratched up fairings and mirror, scratches on the bar end and clutch lever, and the grip is a bit tore up, but no big deal.
Like comonboys said, there was a bunch of gravel over the entire corner, we were riding into the sun and it kinda blended in with the highway. She was just the (un)lucky one that was leading the pack. I realized it was gravel as she was deep into it, managed to stand the bike back up. Ebbs saw me stand it up and kinda veered off. She was too far into it to really do anything about it. Learning experience and no major damage/injuries.
On the plus side, her JR textile jacket took it like a champ, a bit dirty but no tears! :dthumb:

I'm uploading my pics right now to my computer... but didn't get any of the crash side.. (figured I'd wait to see what kinda mood Common boys was in before I started imortalizing her pavemnet surfing) my camera died after only a couple pics... but I'll see what I have in a bit...
to be honest... not much you could have done Nicole... yeah maybe not take the corner that hot... but with the sun where it was... it was damn near impossible to see that gravel. and who'd have thunk turning off a paved road on to a paved road there'd be 3" deep gravel in the middle of the turn?!
those Lockhart Phillips sliders are JUNK... can't see them as being usefull in ANY sort of off at speed... parking lot dumps may be ok... but don't waste your money... get some others...
Cutty72
08-30-2008, 12:54 AM
Yeah, I'll snap some pics tomorrow
so.. what brand sliders next...
If you want full fairings at some point, R&G no cuts work great. The bracket is not like any other no cut on the market and quite effective. If you want naked sliders, motosliders. Motosliders if you want cut full fairing.
I have a bunch of SV parts left over. I will dig it out and get you a list of what I have if you need any of it.

Yeah, you need 50/50 tires for that road. And that would be one of the few times you will see me use the rear brake.

Try dual sport with knobbies! and hangin out the inside foot to steady yourself
This is what I have found so far, most of it has some scratchs/light rash
front fairing, cracked/light rash
left mirror, light rash
may have a full set of OEM signals perfect condition, need to check on these
watsen design front flush mounts with OEM hookups/resistors, great condition, no rash
left passenger rearset, light rash
left radiator cover, one scratch
left rear tail section, no apparent damage good condition
R&G full fairing no cut frame sliders, put on before I sold it and take off with no damage
lower fairings with no hardware, light rash and burn spots
front tire fairing, no apparent damage good condition

What you want for the watsens and the R&G's?
No plans on putting full fairings on the bike, would the R&G's still work/look ok?
By "front tire fairing" do you mean front fender?
Luckily there is no damage on the tail section, the front took it all.

yeah my brain has gone numb, I could not remember the word fender for anything. Too much studying, not use to this shit anymore. I will send you some pics of the R&G's in the morning, they are definitely different and would look strange on a naked bike.
I had bought almost a full set of beat up plastics from a guy who went down to try and do a custom paint bike, bad part I ended up selling the SV not too long after I did that. DOH!

funny you mention that... she hit her head... and was saying her head hurt pretty good after... not an hour before hand I was talking to Cutty about the 50+ bikes I saw and the sole rider I saw with a helmet... shit only 4 others had jackets and gloves on!
this thread would have been delayed a couple days if not completely if she didn't have a helmet and jacket... probably would still be in the hospital.

What did the doctor say? Im assuming just a mild concussion since you had a helmet on? I had one when I broke my eye socket but they said it was just mild. I was out of it a little but it wasnt all that bad honestly. Just take a shit ton of ibuprofen over the next few days and youll be good to go.

I am allergic to asprin so no ibuprofen. Was told to take tylenoal.(sp?) but took some last night and that didn't sit to well. Got yelled at by the nurse. She told me that even when it's an accident at a slower speed always go in and get checked out immediately. So she basically scared me by telling me who i could have bruised by liver and died in my sleep. Nice.......
Cutty and I were supposed to ride to my brothers tomorrow. It's my little brothers birthday. So this will be fun. Trying to walk normal and act normal so the grandparents don't go into the big lecture about bikes......

Yeah, the fireman was just cleaning it out and putting the bandaid on cause i am a big wussie.....
The nurse said that our spleen is on that side and I could have rupture that too... OVerall just bad.
I forgot to mention and don't think ebbs has to many pictures but I am wearing my twf shirt on there and it's a small hole in it now. So my twf shirt stood up to the crash. We all found that amusing......

Really, isn't it
I ordered the replacements today.....
So list of on order stuff:
*shifter
*frame sliders (not going with crap I had before)
*new lid... (same as I had before so visors will work)
After my financial aid check comes in a new leather jacket will be on order. Amazingly not a scratch on my mesh jacket that I was wearing that day. Just a little dirty.
I am so excited to get these in. The nice thing is having Cutty home finally that we can work on them together. Plus my concussion should be gone by the time they do come in so I can help work!!!!!
I will continue the thread for everyone to see the progess.
On a side note. Took the bandage off of my side today and it hurt like crazy. It hurt worse the removing the tape holding it on. My bandaid actually was stuck into the scabs... So yeah, ended up reopening the wound.....

And the broke ass POS Lockhart Phillips sliders
Black piece is the slider itself, the inside is up.
Long bolt is what mounts it to the bike, bent.
Bigger round silver thing is the base that goes between the frame and slider
The smaller silver round thing USED to be pressed into the slider... :tt: and now it is NOT in the slider.
