So I ordered...
A set of Vesrah RJL's
http://g.photos.cx/t_18104-a9.gif
$120 just for the fronts! :hss: They're worth every penny if you've ever used them though. No break-in, amazing initial bite and fade-free, eyeball against the visor stopping power even with my epic ass on the bike.

NGK Iridium IX plugs

Supposedly you can notice a small improvement in power, mileage and throttle response in a car so I'm giving them a shot on the bike. I'll let you know if I notice any difference, probably not. They last way longer than oem so that's a plus.

A bottle of liquid performance on trip's recommendation.

Shit is goddamned expensive. Forget about gas, it's pricier per gallon than a virgin Norwegian nun's menstrual blood on the black market. And about as hard to find.

Hopefully these will all contribute to freshen the bike up for the end of the season. :dthumb:

Also ordered a custom 18 inch swingarm extension with chrome lettering that reads "Juggalo 4 eva" on it.

yeah right.

Looks good man. Maybe you should send the swingarm to ebbs, though.

Hmmm... just won an auction I had no expectation of winning for a complete set of EBC GFA race kit pads (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170262244129) (drunk ebaying). Buy it now was 100.00, I got them for $45.00 and due to a friend paying me back some money on my paypal I basically got them for $6 out of my own pocket.
I've been using nothing but Vesrah's for around 4 years, would these EBC's be an interesting change or should I just sell em? Anyone heard anything about them or used them? Info online is hard to come by for some reason.

They fit
2003-2006 Kawasaki ZX6R/RRs. 2004-2007 ZX-10R
2004-2005 ZX-12R
2005-2008 Vulcan 1600 Streak Streek
2003 Suzuki GSXR 1000
2005 Suzuki M95 BoulevardAnyone with one of those wanna make me an offer?
http://i21.ebayimg.com/08/i/001/0c/9d/d257_1.JPG

Okay just found the info on the EBC site (http://www.ebcbrakes.com/mcstreetpads.html). here's what it says.

"Our first offering for the superbike and road race market is the SB151HH pressure sintered copper brake formulation, which offers faster brake bed in, highest heat stability, maximum braking power and consistent performance throughout the pad life. Please note that the GFA race series are strictly for closed circuit racing and should not be used on the highway. This material offers a very high friction co-efficient and a perfectly stable brake curve. The friction level of these pads is so high that it is considered dangerous and not compliance with ECE R90 brake safety regulations to use these on the highway. "
Sorry for sounding like an idiot but that sounds fucking great. Someone talk me out of putting these on the bike.

^^^BUMP

Anyone know if these will be really unsafe or will I just be able to stop obscenely quickly making it hard for cars to avoid me?

as long as you dont try to do stoppies in front of cars, i dont see why you couldnt use em

PiZdETS

aight cool thanks, I'll just be careful.
If they can stoppie with me on it I'd be very impressed. I feel the front starting to slide before I ever feel the rear end go light, not that I try much.

I just put on the EBC's on the FZ, i figured with the crappy brakes, I needed every bit of help I could get.

I'd run those EBC's and keep the Vesrah's handy in case you don't like them.

That's what I'm thinking too.
If I don't like them my friend wants to buy them from me and secretly rig them onto his sisters bicycle. He thinks she'll loop and faceplant hard.
I tried to explain the difference in motorcycle vs bicycle braking systems and that the bicycles brake lines probably won't even be able to push the pads all the way against the plastic disc but oh well. :idk:

Dude...mock up a hydraulic brake system for the bicycle. She'd own the neighborhood.

PiZdETS

That actually would be pretty sweet, I'd probably need CEO's help working it out.

It's definately possible.

Seems like if he wants to maim her and she's got rim brakes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_brake_systems#Rim_brakes) we can just hook up like a little peg or piece of steel that will go into the spokes when the brakes are applied. It would either destroy the wheel or fracture the shit out of her skull when the front wheel suddenly stops rotating, flinging her over the handlebars.
I don't think I'm comfortable with this anymore, this is some terrible ass karma right here. lol

These breaks require extra heat to operate? I've heard race pads work at a higher temp... that's why they don't recommend them for street... cause you don't often reach those temps

that was my concern but their little graph on their site has this key for the GFA's;
http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Assets/gfapads.jpg

It's as good in every way as their street legal pads except for the lifetime department. Here's the street legal ones;
http://www.ebcbrakes.com/Assets/hhpads.jpg

Some guys on another forum suggested it may be that EBC was just too lazy to get them approved for road use. I honestly can't understand the concept of too much braking power being dangerous. Unless it's dusty/wet in which case you're fucked anyway with the immense braking power of most stock brake systems on modern sportbikes.
The other idea I have is the "ZOMG IT'S ILLEGAL THEY STOP TOO FAST FOR PUBLIC USE YOU'LL DIEZORS!!!!!!" is all a marketing ploy. So powerful it's illegal kinda has a nice ring to it.

What rotors do you have?

The different composites aren't always friendly on the rotors, especially if they aren't full floating or drilled right. :wink:

Hmm..stock on an '03 gsxr 1000. Lemme google the specs real quick. Definitely not interested in damaging the rotors.

here's what I could find;
The front brakes were also new. Suzuki decided to drop the six-piston calipers. The new radially-mounted four-piston calipers weigh 30 grams less and grip smaller 300 mm (12 in) discs that save another 300 g (0.66 lb). Though smaller, Suzuki claimed that the new brakes provide better stopping and turn-in performance.

You think I should stick with the vesrah's?

I've only ever used EBC, and only now have gone to new rotors on the 998. The 748 (which hasn't always had EBC's) has tea-cupped rotors and is inheriting the ones from the 998.

So, I've had better luck with EBC than others.

Hmm so you think switching brands might be detrimental? Or is tea-cupped a brand? I think I might have tea-bagged rotors.
I'm so confused. Brb, gotta go rock in the fetal position in the corner for a while.

Nice marchesini's btw, here are mine;

Teacupped = more wear on the center than the outer edges. You've never heard that? :idk:

Tea-bagged :rofl:

So yeah the bikes in the shop. The plugs, brake pads and valve adjustment were quoted as $400. Then they called me this morning and said the fork seals are done and need replaced, now the price is $700.

I wouldn't waste the cash or the rotor wear on RJL's if you're strictly a street rider, Alex.
Do that shit yourself kid, save 700 ducketts.
+ eleventy hundred.
