He was stationed in Alaska before being shipped out to Korea. However, his bike had been in storage in N. Dakota. He may not have ridden from Alaska to the gap, but he probably rode just as far to get there since he took a huge circular trip, going all the way down to Florida before turning around and going back up to the gap.

first I gotta buy a bike... think'n of make'n a trip out of that and buying it in Knoxville as an excuse to ride the gap and hang out with Trip, Drewpy, fatburg and whoever else is in the area... but I'll be hauling it in the back of my truck back down.

after that long a ride... I've come to the realization that riding long trips alone... SUCKS ASS! you need some company. the routes where I rode with someone were 1000x better than the routes with out...

You have to hit up Road America(Wisconsin) for the AMA race there or even Mid Ohio.

I'd like to go to the keys but it definitely wouldn't be on the bike. I hear it sucks enough being stuck on the bridges in a cage and it's 100x worse on the bike. Plus, I would need touring tires, I wasted a lot of good tread on the indy trip.
