wow... the exhaust looks almost... good. reminds me of the new Micron ones though... a little too much in fact :idk:

and I think they need to use the same headlights as on the 600 and 750.. I hear those are actually pretty good

Better looking than the ZX and CBR, probably a runner up with the R1. Won't have the big bang firing order so advantage R1, has better looking exhaust advantage back GSXR, Wonder about that MSRP?:idk:

Exhaust looks like an elaphant's trunk. Similar to Micron. But it can be changed. Design still looks like the previous GSXR. The intakes look different and that's about it.

Stacked tranny is also a change for the 09 to be like the 600/750.

I'd say the pics we're seeing so far are simply to throw us off and they're planning something MAJOR. all the others got a huge redesign for this year, so I dont doubt that Zuki will follow suit so as not to be the odd ball.

BUT, IF that is the 09 model, I like it. doesnt look too bad honestly, although it could use a slightly more stylish pipe.

That hideous thing that Kawi is calling the zx10 has them on the stem if that counts.

I'm not brand loyal in the least... actually Kawi would be my last choice for a new bike... just don't like the looks... and really that's what it comes down to (as I've not sat on any of them) cause god knows performance wise they're so close and it'd take more than my pathetic ability to find a determinable difference in performance

im really dissapointed in this thing. gotta admit though i had my hopes up too high since what i really wanted was a gsv-r 1000 with forkless front suspension. then again suzuki is probably the only big four company that can make any real money on litres so i cant really be surprised that they decline to be radical

I wouldn't own a zook. Mostly because they're uncomfortable! They simply don't fit me, then add in the squid image and looks... Don't get me wrong, I'm trying to ride every bike on the market. Kawi's have been the most comfortable and best looking. Now they've gone the ugly route, I have to go to the next most comfortable bike. Right now, that's not japanese, and not likely to change for '09.

I don't see your point? these days the performance aspect of these bikes is so close that you need to be racing WERA to tell the diffrence in lap times...

so what's left... comfort and looks... granted looking for comfort from a sportbike is a long the lines of choosing between the Enzo or Galardo based on MPG... but when you really only have two area's to really distinguish the bikes... I can see it coming into play... and as long as you keep in mind neither is gonna give you all day comfort with out some mods... you can at least see which is the LEAST uncomfortable. ya know?

and looks... come on... the only bikers who can claim they buy soley on performance are the owners of this

They'll all do 160- which is far, far beyond anything you could possibly use on the street. So ya got looks, comfort, and exclusivity (as far as that goes on a jap bike). Everyone and there brother has a Zook, and most of them are the wifebeater and shorts crowd.

fueling and powerband is also important

Gunther1000
09-30-2008, 11:10 AM
Well I don't know just how many different bikes you guys have ridden or owned but for me Every bike is different. Powerband and mid-range delivery is a huge feel factor and can change the whole ride enjoyment for street trips. The feel or Comfort of a bike is workable if it does what you want it to motor wise. Build Quality and durability are important to me as well. If I can see several dependable Turbo (= Stressed) Gsx-R's hold up for many hard miles and very few Yamaha/Kawi bikes, I am maybe a little more inclined to believe those bikes are built to take some abuse and will give me plenty of life.

And for the record, I would Ride any bike regaurdless of looks if it ran just how I wanted it to and gave me a high degree of pleasure.

Sure most new 1000's are plenty fast, but there all still very different bikes.
I must be a strange motorcyclist if I think my 06 looks better than most new bikes but I will not say that it is better. However it still does everything I look for in a sportbike and to me is not far enough behind anything new to warrant an upgrade yet... When that time comes it will take more than a look at what is sexy to deside. Or we would all be on the (older) R1 cause it has held the sexiest Jap bike award for some time in my eyes. It's just everything else it does other than sit in the parking lot that I have a problem with.

depends on your insurance company

mine goes my cc's... so my 05 599 Kawi ZZR600 was $26 a month for full coverage... an 08 599 Honda 600RR is $28 a month for the same coverage. ( my rates will go up cause of my accident but haven't yet)

well I've preached before... but State Farm FTMFW... never had anything but positive things to say about them. I've had my cars broken into a couple times, within a week the check was in my hands, and I'm insured in Oregon, the break ins happened in Cali and AK.

now with the fiasco of my wreck... it involved 5 different offices (my state farm office in OR, the total loss office in OR, Local Office in NE, Total Loss in NE, and local office in Fargo ND. My accident happened on Wed the 17th... I called and reported it on Thurs the 18th... by Monday they knew what I'd be reimbursed and I'm just waiting on my title to be sent from AK to trade for the check.

also turns out they may be reimbursing me for my Uhaul ($1100) from Chi to Fargo because I needed to make a flight home.

needless to say... they've got my buisness for along time to come... and I'll pay a extra for service like that.

No Worries

I don't see your point? these days the performance aspect of these bikes is so close that you need to be racing WERA to tell the diffrence in lap times...

The October, 2008 issue of Motorcycle Consumer News tested the 2008 CBR1000RR. They liked it. But the main thing was that "it was easy to ride fast." One of the testers has a 1098S. He rode it as fast as the 1098, but with half the effort. Within three laps on the CBR, he was equaling the 1098. Two sessions later, he knocked off 3.5 seconds. That's a lot. The next day, he sold his 1098 and bought a CBR.

In my book, "easy to ride quickly, with less effort" is way more important than ten more horsepower, ten less pounds, or 10 more MPH.

I've ridden a lot of bikes. Some of them were miserable after 15 minutes- like the SV650S. It positively killed my back over a 20-25 minute demo, and the gauge positioning sucks. The R6 wasn't quite as bad on my back, but worse on the neck- the engine was fun though. The RSV1000R is one of the sexiest bikes ever, but was a bitch to turn into a parking lot. The B-King is a complete hooligan bike, but is ridiculously wide, and hideous.

Point is, there are things I can live with in a bike, and things I can't. UGLY is not something I can live with. Neither is looking at the front tire to see my tach/speedo, or shooting pain in my back/neck, or having my knees three feet apart, or having something jab into my thigh every time I move, or not being able to make a tight low speed turn.

The next day, he sold his 1098 and bought a CBR.

well I've preached before... but State Farm FTMFW... never had anything but positive things to say about them.

Same here. Ive been with state farm since I started driving and have never had anything but pleasant experiences with them. And my rates have always been very fair. Ill be staying with them for quite a while.

The tester owned his 1098 and had ridden it at that track many times. So we can assume he had set up the suspension correctly. But going the same speed as the Duc with only half the effort on the CBR would make me buy an RR if I was going racing. The magazine said the RR was soft below 4K, but that's where I do a lot of riding.

sposedly the american tune leaves A LOT on the table compared to the euro maps. pcIII oughtta be the first thing done. 'course with everybody leaning the fuck out of new bikes from the factory so they can pass our ridiculous emissions laws, that should be a universal truth
