Thanks for the compliments, guys. I'm missing the old Raven's wheel stripes though. I think I mat take my wheels to a good paint shop and have them paint a thin, black wheel stripe on.

I bet you could do it,the key is to take your time and set a point from the edge and steady yourself against some point on the bike and have someone else slowly spin the wheel. It's actually very easy. Besides, wheel tape comes off if you get tired of it...

Gorgeous bike, how's the feel/power compared to your trade-in?

The handling feels more nimble. I haven't really opened it up yet. I break 'em in fairly easy. I think I brought it to 14k a couple times today during the 180 mile ride. The midrange is a bit stronger than my '06 was though. My biggest surprise was how noticeable the handling was.

The local dealership had four when we went by yesterday...

-Black and gold - gold rims look much nicer in person than what I was expecting.
-Orange - love the color not a huge fan of the decals.
-Red, gray, and white - NOT a fan! Really do not like the red seat.
-Blue - looks nice.

Should have told him only vaginas ride R6s and real men ride R1s with turbos.

It looks nice as hell though. I wish I didn't click on this thread because monday between work and school I can kill time by stopping by the local Yamaha/Honda dealership. (Talking to self) Very bad no don't do it damnit!!!

I want to try to get an all carbon fiber system...well can anyway. I'm not getting a slip-on, I'm gonna hold off and wait until I can afford a full system so it'll be a while before I have one on there. Then I'll need a power commander and get it dyno tuned for max performance.

I spoke to a very, very, very fast shop owner out here who recently sold his GSXR and picked up a new 1000RR. I asked him how he broke it in and he said he breaks it in the way he rides and doesn't do anything different. That inspired my top speed run. I had more, but we were going into a headwind that was blowing pretty hard.

The changes from '08? A remapped ECU. '08 was when everything was redesigned.

so coming from your 06... what changes are there?

DLIT
10-05-2008, 05:03 PM
so coming from your 06... what changes are there?

* Over 50 friction-reducing strategies have been employed inside the engine, including the use of wider crank bearings.
* Upgraded fuel injection mapping for the YCC-T dual-injector system complements the higher compression ratio for great throttle response and reduced engine braking.
* A magnesium subframe removes weight from the rear of the motorcycle for increased mass centralization.
* All-new frame takes handling to the next level, allowing more precise turn-in, greater corner speed, and tighter exits. Thicker headpipe-headstock and swingarm pivot area walls, and elimination of the frame crossmember, help achieve perfect balance.
* New swingarm has internal ribs added, and extruded section is now forged to work with the new frame.
* Revised outer fork tubes, a new lower triple clamp, and increased fork offset provide highly tactile front-end feedback.
* Moving the rider and bars forward and slightly lower enhances braking and turn-in performance. Clip-ons are also lower and re-angled.
* Front discs are 310 x 5mm instead of 4.5mm for increased cooling qualities.
* Increased fork height adjustability and rear ride-height adjustment range accommodate a greater range of riders and tires.
* Revised bodywork results in even greater aerodynamic efficiency.

It also has the variable intakes.
They never posted the wet weight of the '06 but the '09's wet weight is 414lbs.

yes... I noticed it quite a bit... much more bite on hard braking... my rear brake I locked up alot but that had a bit to do with new rearsets (brake lever at a diffrent angle) and new rear pads...

They help a TON on the track, too. Once you start getting faster and faster, they're good to eliminate brake fade. What's brake fade? It's when you go into turn 1 hot after a few laps and you squeeze the brakes and your damn lever hits your clip-on and you're barely slowing down. Happened to a buddy of mine almost every time he went to the track. He finally got SS lines...fixed!
