Seems a little high. I can order an RK 520 kit for most bikes for around $160 through my local shop.

That's in line with a high quality chain. Check out MotoMummy.com

It would be steel sprockets from Drive systems with a DID ERV3 all gold X-ring chain.

price good, price bad?

yup got it from there... they cut the chain to your required length so be aware the sprockets and chain sometimes ship separately.

but yeah that was the price for me... I was extreemly happy with them.

I would stick with a 530 chain for a 1000cc bike. How about Esjot sprockets in steel:http://www.spieglerusa.com/cfm/EsjotFront.cfm and RK 530 X-ring chain: http://www.ronayers.com/catalogs/pu/parts.cfm?topsecid=3&subsecid=26&secid=101&type=300?

Nah NW... the 520 will be fine on a inline 4. The only one I would worry about would be the v-twins with the 520. But I knew a guy that had a RC51 with 520 setup. But he ran steel sprockets as well.

520 alum is fine if you take care of chain and reframe from dropping the clutch.

yes but case in point they don't recommend 520 on a liter bike - go 530..

The guys at Motomummy claim that a 520 will be ok on an I-4 liter. I don't own one so I cant say that's fact, but I'd have to imagine a parts retailer would know his shit. I didn't say dealer though, dealers don't know jack shit about bikes.

Everyone recommended 530 for me.

Nope actually the 9R came with a 525, that was a 530 setup I put on it. Then after that I went to a 520 with good Renthol sprockets. No more problems.

SUPERSPROX STEALTH SPROCKETS FOR THE WIN!

They might be 80 bucks a pop for a rear sprocket, but they last forever. I've got one on my Tuono (525). The bike's got almost 30k miles on it and I've had it since 15k miles. Hardly shows any more wear than when I first got it.

Paired w/ a DID VM x-ring eBay special for 100 bucks that's taken care of & a steel front sprocket and you've got a drivetrain that'll last for longer than you can imagine.

But at the end of the day, you need one thing for any chain/sprocket combo.
