Here is that video I posted it somewhere else but it's a lap around NHMS from the sept days:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FH6QL8zjtV8

These are from the 10-12 Buell Inside Pass TD at the Lightning course at NJMP. It took me most of the day to get up to speed there, and by then the photog was done I think, so in most of the shots I look shitty. Anyways,

Here's a vid... I am the camera biking riding my buddy's 636 and he is riding my r6. I catch up to him mid-session and we switch around a few times. Then his bike ran out of gas ... that was fun.

Maybe it's just the angle of the camera but damn what is the banking in that corner in the second pic.

So when are you gonna let me ride the R6 and you hope on the 6R.

They're all behind me :D

haha but basically it was a Buell-sponsored track day... they are run by SportbikeTrackTime though and Buell just shows up with a nice lunch and truck full of buells...

However they make you go out with a control rider if you want to try out there bikes so my buddy and I just said forget it and rode on our own... you had to sign up and ride in a line behind them and all sorts of silly shit. I got all the bike variation I wanted by swapping with my buddy for a few sessions.

Think you edited this part in after... I'm quick haha

But really thanks... I have a shitload to work on... but have been happy with most of my progress. I think at this point racing is going to help my learning curve continue to steepen. Most of the things I need to work on are all about balls... so competition should help me with that.

Yeah the second pic is turn 6, 'the bowl', at NHMS... it's a doosey ;).... heavily banked especially around the apex.

At lightning the 3rd photo after the video is also pretty banked and a lot faster than the turns at NHMS... hard to tell speed from pics though.

Hahaha, seriously! His pucks are in the same place as everyone elses, but I've never seen anyone that was able to stick a knee out as far as Chris can... :lmao:

Chris, are your hips double jointed?

I've moved them around quite a bit... still not quite comfortable with where they are. I don't know.

High rearsets + short legs make me a little awkward.

Hahahaha no I meant the dude on the FZ1... the four of us were in a line and we all came up on him mid-corner... that's why the group shot became possible.
Are your hips double jointed?
Pete why did you use the drool smilie there... that's :gary:

My first set of leathers had the velcro in a slightly odd location. Plus, due to my newness to track riding, my body positioning made for some pretty odd puck patterns. I experimented with puck location and ended up having the pucks halfway off the velcro patch, but it worked to keep it centered. In my case, my form was awful. As I learned how to position my body, my pucks finally moved back to the center of the patch. Now, I'm not saying your form is bad, so don't take that from it. However, I am saying to not worry about whether the pucks are exactly in the center of the patch, because that doesn't matter. It looks like you need to move the pucks more to the inside of your knee, rather than the outside. Give it a shot and see how that works.

Nice pics, but you're saying you pussed out on riding the 1125... tsk tsk.

From what I've read, yes, you have to follow a control rider, but that control rider is fast and smooth. You would have gotten a good ride in, especially since you are used to a high revving no torque bike, which the 1125 is not.

I rode my buddy's 1125R up at Loudon NH.... Fun bike (for a street bike), but I had to pour cold water on my right toe to put out the fire from that exhaust!

I'm loving that part right now, with highs in the low 40's

Thanks. Yeah I moved them a bit more to the inside for the NJ track days and that helped a bit. I think I need to move them even more still. The effect has worsened since I got the higher and farther back rearsets, along with my short inseam.

I know you don't have to drag knee but I like doing it just for the feel and to know where I'm at. Especially since due to the legs/rearsets issue I know to drag knee I need to be closer to max lean than a lot of folks... :idk: So that's kind of why I stick it far out. It's not uncomfortable for me or anything.

Now I'm not saying I lean my bike the absolute max that you can possibly do... but in these two pictures (captured from afternoon video from the track day at thunderbolt) you'll see I've got the bike cranked over pretty good like 50 degrees, and in both of these photos I am *just* skimming my knee, and as you can see I'm sticking it out as per my usual style. It just lets me know where I'm at:

Again I appreciate any input people can give me... I know I need to get my head down more... that's the hardest thing for me especially when my body is getting tired.

I watched them go out there... wasn't worth missing a session to me.

You had to sign up, went out a lap or so late, ran a single file line around the track slower than I would have liked, and came in two laps early.

I ran a few sessions on my friend's set-up 636... that was fun as hell.

That's my biggest problem. I start out with my head down low, but as the day goes on and I get tired it goes right back up to the center. Which means higher lean angles with less speed.

My pucks on my Frank Thomas suit were naturally in a bad spot no matter what I did. it turned out to be the suit because the Astars and Dainese suits wear nice and flush. I bet it's the suit.

I don't put my head way down because I don't like the feedback I get from my bike that way. I almost don't feel any feedback doing it, so I keep it up more, I feel it puts me in a solid position to make corrections mid turn if the need arises. Putting your head down is a basic lesson. My theory is the basics are there to get a good foundation going. The faster you get, the more you'll make subtle changes to your form so you feel more comfortable. Look at Colin Edwards. That dude's head is way the fuck out there. Looks cool as hell, too.

Yeah I think you're probably right. I'm going to try to move them some more and we'll see what happens.

Yeah I know what you mean... but I think at my skill level though I shouldn't be inventing my own style just quite yet... I know getting my torso and head forward and down a little more will make me better so I want to work on that. It also should make it harder for you to maintain handlebar pressure mid-corner so that's another benefit.
