I finally watched this film tonight. It just happened to be on one of my movie channels as I was flipping through. I'm glad I got to watch it, it's a solid movie. It's crazy how his bike set a record that still stands today and his Indian was over 40 years old when he set it.

It's a litle slow, but definitely worth it.

My favorite line: You live more in five minutes on a bike like this going flat out than some people live in a lifetime.

Good movie... and if I remember correctly, the record has been broken... I've also watched the documentary, "Offerings to the God of Speed"... It's worth noting that the movie had a little poetic license and hacked up the real story pretty good...

i think you're right on the record, and it probably coulda been beat alil while ago-maybe its a obscure class nowadays, or outta respect for the guy, idk.

sup with the documentary? was it a special feature on the dvd or do i have to find it somewhere on the history channel or something?

Well... it's a movie based on a real story... not a new representation of exactly what happened.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Bought it for mister for Christmas or something a couple years back, it took him 6mos to finally decide to watch it (I'd already seen it in the theater), and lo and behold, HE LIKED IT.

I keep telling him I'm full of good ideas.

I think it was an extra on the DVD... The documentary was made like 20 years ago or something... I downloaded it... And the movie.

Damn, the documentary isn't on Netflix. I liked the movie, but like you said, it was hacked up. Things didn't exactly happen in the order they did in the movie.
