Just bought myself a new battery for the old bike and a battery tender plus to charge her up. Any of you guys/gals use the battery tender ? If so, do you plug it up every time you park the bike or just when you know it'll sit for a good while ? :idk:

Thanx !!

That's because I don't want to ruin my tires.

We plug our up if we know they're going to sit for more than two weeks but don't much worry about it if we're doing the weekend rides.

It would depend on how many 'short' trips I'd taken that day - most motorcycle charging systems require a 15-25 minute ride to recover the charge for one 'cold start'. If I'm running errands - in and out of stores - I'll plug it in when I get home. Other than that, usually once a month, I'll let the bike charge overnight just to maintain the 'full charge'.

YMMV... :idk:

THe SV I plugged in once this year for the first time ever, just for the hell of it, it only charged for like 2 min.

the Buell I plugged in a few times cause I was reading about a lot of electrical issues, but never had any myself, and again, never took much of a charge either?
I'd say end of season, charge it up to full, then pull it and keep it somewhere warm is good enough.

I plug it any time it's gonna sit for a while... but randomly I'll plug it in over night just to make sure the battery is on a full charge. err... I did...

I just plug it in when it's gonna sit.

When I'm now on it, the tender is.

My bud Don is offering a Battery Minder brand for a decent price. Plus it can charge up to 5 bikes at once. Real nice feature if you have the need, at least once you get a harness to hook them all up.
