Anyone update their 360 yet? I plan on doing it once I get home. I hear the new dashboard is pretty sweet.

It's a nice layout and has some pretty good added features. It's nice to have a legit Netflix tie in without having to do the shitty way, though now that it's official, some of the Instant Play movies are barred from Xbox play by some of the companies (*cough*Sony*cough*). The Avatars are a little too goofball Wii like though, and the Marketplace is a little more muddled, but overall I think it's a nice visual improvement over the older style.
I dig it. The thing I like most is that you can download your games to your hard drive and play them from it. You still have to have the disc in there (proly so people don't just swap hard drives), but the disc doesn't spin and it's much quieter gameplay, you don't hear the thing processing anymore. The Netflix option is cool, too.

Initially it's available through Xbox Live only. Eventually they'll release the update through the internet that you can burn to a CD and load up that way, or it'll be packaged with some games.

The new update is gay. It's like iphone meets wii. It's a piece of shit and totally unorganized. The new avy thing is a blatant ripoff of wii and the menus are a lot like scrolling through your mp3's on an iphone. xbox = fail

You still need the disc so people don't just swap out hard drives and play free games or something, I imagine. Otherwise, people could just fill up their hard drives with games and sell those. And my xbox has 120gigs of memory. I'm not too worried about filling it up any time soon. The avatar shit is mad gay though.

I'd guess maybe to help reduce power consumption and heat... :idk: also don't have to worry about games freezing from the laser being dirty...
but yeah... unless you've swapped out the hd in the xbox... your gonna be hurting after a couple games

Xbox is still the best of the systems. Ps3 still doesn't have crap for games, and their online play sucks ass. Wii is just a gimmick system that I never had any interest in.

Honestly, the x-box live is much better, but other than that i like the PS3. I play on both regularly also.

Yeah LIVE is just way more user friendly and has way more options...The PS3 felt like a chore getting online...and every game is different as far as on-line abilities.
ATM i only use my PS3 for Resistance 2 and SOCOM...The 360 gets way more game time.

I don't know..I know most major releases come out on everything... but most major releases are major because they have a big online multiplayer crowd waiting to jump on it, and for multiplayer I prefer the 360.
Also, I'm a big renter, I have the gamepass deal at blockbuster so I can have 2 games out at all times. Selection wise, the 360 shelves take up at least twice as much space, there are a lot of smaller titles that get released only on the 360.
The wii rack is like 2 feet long.
Resistance 2 fucking sucks ass. It's the Halo of the PS3, and that's not praise in any way. I can't believe I wasted money on that garbage ass game.

I have both but don't even have my X-Box hooked up anymore...btw for the record PS3 just did some online updates. Life with Playstation is pretty cool and I agree that X-Box has better online gameplay but it costs money and have you ever tried to surf the web on X-Box? Heck,I've downloaded porn onto my PS3! Besides,I can use my PSP to play games on my PS3 back at the house.

Man, I'm the same way. The Metal Gear series just sucks me in. I played about 8 hours straight on the first day, took a nap, played 4 more hours, went to work, came back and the PS3 wouldn't work. This was two days after I bought it. I exchanged it and put in 12 more hours and then finished the game the next day. Now it's a run through just to collect a shitload of guns for Drebin and the see if I can find some of the hidden stuff. Or just fuck around and blow people apart with the rail gun. That seems to make me pretty damn happy too.

also really dug the bit in snake eater where you walk down the river with the sorrow. i didnt realise it put up every guy you killed, i slit a lotta throats :dthumb:

Is it just a movie player or will it have the ability to play games should developers choose to release games in a blu-ray format? If it's just a standalone player, then what's the point?
