after close to 10 years of service, I finally gave up on my 95 ProbeGT.
So I went out and did the unthinkable.
I bought a fucking Camry.

The rationale being that it's just a station car and I'll be getting a new bike in 20010\2011 and with the wifes opinion of the bike and 2 kids, getting a sports car or muscle car (or any type of flashy car) may cause problems when it's time to replace the Ninja. ("Your bike runs fine and you already have a sports car....let's use the money to go to Disney)

so now in my driveway I have the Mazda6 wagon and 2002 Camry LE 5spd.

Mini review

holy crap this is the dullest car I have ever owned. It sucks every ounce of driving pleasure out of you and I don't think I'll ever earn a speeding ticket driving this thing. the radio is too high up on the dashboard, the steering is numb and lifeless and the seats suck compared to the Probe and Mazda. The engine has decent enough "pep" around town and as long as you don't exceed 5K does alright. No point past 5K as it runs out of steam. The brakes are mushy, handling is 90's Buick. Decent enough room all around, though the wife feels that it will be to awkward for her to work the clutch (she has freakishly long legs at 6'2).

Why this thing sold well back in it's day is proof that Americans hate driving.

I have effectively removed a testicle to ensure a smooth transaction when new bike time comes around.

"Look dear...I bought a Camry because I'm thinking of the family!!!"
Look at all the room...if need be I can move the car seats into here and the fuel economy is great!! It's a Camry so it will last a long time!!!"

So now it's too cold to ride weekend mornings and I'm driving a fucking Toyota that will bore me to death for the next decade.

Let this be a warning for you young-ins....
Be prepared to pick your battles.

I wouldn't care if it did 13 in the 1/4....it's a boring appliance, and no a 4banger Camry is not faster than Anal ProbeGT. Even if it was at least the anal probe GT with latex glove could handle.

Screw your buick!!! It's in the same league as a Camry

but think of it this way...drive your camry for 5 years... and sell it for 80% of what you bought it for if not more...

try that with a probe.

the camry isn't meant to be a FUN car... it's a RELIABLE car... look at the MR2 or Supra for a fun car

Yeah I guess...

I definitely got my money's worth out of the Probe bought it second hand and I'd probably still keep it if an injector hadn't taken a dump and the rims didn't leak. It will be a tough act to follow since all it's asked up until recently was oil changes, a belt tensioner basic maintenance over it 13 years on the road. Still original rotors and clutch.

May be a much ridiculed girls car but it's been a fun little reliable car.

Think I might stop talking now because my lack of testosterone is showing in this thread

I can't stand trucks as daily drivers. I do miss my BroncoII.
That was fun to drive in it's own special way.

see I love my truck... every time I bought a car i've regretted it... now I'll only buy a car if I have a truck also.

but I've gotten so used to my truck, driving a car I feel weird...

You can set your man card on the table on the way out. BTW is your wife going to keep your balls in her purse or is she going to hang then from the bumper of her wagon?

Pauldun, your Probe is Ford's version of my MX6 AND some parts are interchangeable (hint hint ). I am so with you on the "personality" aspect of the Probe/MX6. I drive a beat up PRIMERED and PEELING 94, but prefer it over most newer cars out there, and there's an 05 Subaru Legacy GT sitting in the driveway with it. Maybe it's the age or body style that gives it personality...the fact you can FEEL it while your driving it...I dunno. My last car was a 94 Sentra E (same body style) and I loved it too.

You could part it out for a good chunk on MX6.com or Probeforum.com...just a thought...

My only requiremment was that it had to be a manual transmission and I had set a price cap of 10K since it's just going to be a station car (3-4 miles to the train station each day)

After seeing cars I liked with tons of mileage I came across the Camry and it had 48K. Figured what the hell wouldn't hurt to look at it and ended up buying it after the test drive.

What part of NY are you in?

Long Island (Suffolk County) and work in the City

All ribbings and jokings aside, my very first car was a 1989 Probe GL. That car provided for eight years' worth utterly reliable yeoman service.

lol....The car I had before the Probe was 90' MX6 N\A 2.2 5spd.
That car was great reliable car as well. Had 130K+ when I sold it.
