what do YOU see?
For the country....
For your family....
For yourself....
Most media outlets are bombarding us with negative news...about the economy...the uncertainty surrounding the transition from largely Republican to largely Democratic rule.
What's your take? Are you feeling optimistic? If so, why?
If not, what is driving you to feel more pessimistic?

A lesson from a close broker/investor friend...Don't let the DOW or anything external turn your mood. At the end of the day you find perspective in your life from the inside out. The press thrives on easy news, nothing is easier than bad events and fear mongering. "Expert" pundits and scholars all looking for their moment of fame love to expound on the negative, warning against things they have foreseen.
What directly effects me and my family I suppose more than anything drives my mood. I tend to be a realist, pessimist, fatalist, since so much effects my family and friends negatively that I cannot control. That said I try not to share that, but to encourage and make light of things because hey, no one gets out of here alive, why not make your time here the best it can be?!?!

for the Country - I see resurgence in normal names for newborns
For my Family - I see me not spending money from the Motorcycle fund on a trip to disney.
For my self - I see that final little bit on the left side will sprout up and I'll finally be able to grow a proper goatee
as for the media they are playing the same "SHOCKING NEWS FILM AT 11!!!" for the past bazillion years.
Puppies and cats saved from a tree do not generate ratings.
Do I feel optimistic or pessimistic? I not really the optimism\pessimism type. One side is too "look at me I'm an annoying happy fuck on meds!! and the other is too damn goth for my taste.

i think if you name your kid something dumb as hell like that, they should be allowed to rename you at any point during their lives. i imagine the name Retarded Asscracker would be popular amongst adults the year they enact that.

Man, I guess I'm really not concerned. The world's going to end soon, but then He's been saying that the day draweth nigh for around 2,000 years, so soon is kind of relative isn't it? For my part, I still have a nice bike, a great family, and I'm covering all my bills with a little extra, so I'm cool with watching the country slide into oblivion from a comfortable, seated position.

I don't really watch the news anymore because it's so negative. I know it's going to sound corny but I choose to focus on the positive in other people, in myself, and in the world.

It seems like ALL news is bad these days.

I figure it a year or two times, maybe more everything will turn around.
The economy will begin to blossom, the news will spread the joy, stocks will sky rocket and people across the country will thank our president for doing it all. Whether he did or didn't.
And then blindly, everyone will continue living until it hits the fan again.
