Being single isn't THAT bad. While your out of town you should pick up some lotion and some porn. Might be the only action you get for a while.

So is the wedding party young-ish, or mid aged???
I mean, a girl i knew just got married like 3 weeks ago, and it was the best damn time I had in a looong time.
Just booze it up at the open bar for a bit and then grind urself on all the young hot single fema.... I mean your g/f....
OK... on second thought, just get riding now....
Wait, everybody hold on. It could be a very good excuse to be out of town.
Does your out of town excuse have something to do with either
a) saving the world, in a way that will be all over the news so peopel actually believe you?
b) open heart surgery at a specialist far far away?
c) I just added a letter C here because it looked better with three choices, really though those are the only 2 excuses you could ever come up with, and you could probably get out of having choice b, especially if it is this far away, just move it to the day after. Also choice A doesn't work too well, I've tried it before and its just a bad excuse.

Soooo, here's the girlfriend's side of the story.
Yes, we've been together for 3 years.
It will be a mixed crowd, however, the majority will be younger. My sister is the 2nd oldest of the 8 grandkids in my family so most will be around our age. Phil gets along great with my dad, stepmom and brother who will both be there. He's just being a big baby and thinks he won't have any fun. But he will. So suck it up.
Oh yeah..the wedding is at the end of May not March.
And exactly, he's know way in advance. It was originally scheduled for August but recently got moved up to May due to a venu change (and yes the date was changed and final before he even knew about the vacation...so that's not an excuse either).

Patapon it is.
I have a DS, top 3 games for me are: Tetris, N+ and MarioKart.
I would love for them to make something like StreetFighter II for the DS.
PSP has better games than the DS.

I've got em both. Each has games that are great, and both have a shitload of games that are fucking awful. Right now the DS gets more play because of FFIV. The PSP gets fired up for Patapon and Lumines. The PSP has its full potential blown by not having dual analogs. If they fixed that, a lot more games would be infinitely more playable.
I have played N+ more than anything. even on my brother's xbox360. that games is addicting, and hard. but you could never become too good at it, cause they have some levels that are just meant to fuck with you.

Does your girlfriend want you to go? Yes? Then yes, you have to go.
After three years, you're considered an established couple, and it would raise questions if you DIDN'T go, so go, if only to keep your girlfriend from having to answer a million questions about why you're not there.

I think u should go.......can't say that I cared too much for my SIL BF of 9 years anyway but when he didn't show up to our wedding, we were all done trying to be nice to him. (& she is no longer w/him btw) We would've understood if he had something going on that was emergency or a vacation planned way before the wedding. But the whole "I don't like weddings" felt like "I don't like hanging out with your family...they suck"
**even if you feel that way...u still have to respect her family, not for them, but for her. :) It would suck for her to explain why you are not there.

Thank you to everybody on my side! Like I said he's just being a big baby. Last night as we were falling asleep he was asking me what he had to do to get out of it. He offered a house, car, and babies. I told him it's not up for negotiation (especially since I know he's full of shit lol - considering the few times he's told me "If you do this, I swear I will marry you tomorrow"...and I'm still here as a Miss, not a Mrs. lol).
But yes! You are all right. When you get to a certain point in a relationship, you are expected to be at family functions. And as I said before, he gets along with everyone in my family, but gets along very well with my dad, step mom, and brother...so he can hide out with them all night if he chooses too. I'm the maid of honor so I'll have to be mingling a bit.
Oh and to the guy that suggested apendicitis a few pages back. Good try, but he already got his appendix out when he was a kid lol. Another benefit of being together for a while...I know his medical history lol.

Thaaat was a bit of a douchebag move. FYI, it isn't that he doesn't want to marry me. It's that he has plenty of time before he finishes school, we're moving in a few months, and he's broke as a joke. I'm not marrying into debt, and he needs a little more of a promising future. If he didn't want to be with me...he wouldn't. It's that simple.

Thank you Bill. I think this is a good compromise. The wedding is actually Monday, the actual day of Memorial Day. I've told him a million times, i don't have a problem with him going on the trip. It's something he really wants to do and I support that. But he knew about this wedding since they go engaged LAST February. And I just don't want to get a call the day before saying he's too tired to drive back or some bullshit excuse why he won't be coming. And I don't want him snoring in the back of the ceremony. Like I said I'm the maid of honor so I'll be able to see him lol. But if he comes back a day early and has a day to sleep and get his energy back than that's fine.
That's why I like you Bill.
And you better believe I'm "the one" lol.
Really out of all the shit a women can ask for...( holding her purse, buying tampons, sharing your feelings, having kids...) a wedding is a fucking walk in the park... Just go and you get to drag her to some shit that she can't stand...
Thank you for being HALF on my side lol. I've told him before I'm really not asking for much. Wear a suit and hang out for a few hours. He gets a free REALLY good gourmet meal, etc. Howeverrrrr, I told him that's not how it works because I don't see it as an eye for an eye. This is something he's not thrilled about, but is basically and obligation. In the future, I'm sure there will be family functions on his side that I'm not thrilled about but I'll go to make him happy. It evens itself out. He always wants to make a deal. And THAT's not how it works lol.
Oh, and he doesn't buy me tampons or hold my purse. I try to get him to share his feelings but he's just too "tough". And babies...well....I'm guilty with that one. I probably ask for babies enough to cancel the other ones out.

Keeping the games quiet is fucking easy. The hard part is explaining that when you yelled "Oh my fucking god you cheating cunt!" when the bride said "I do", it was at the piece of shit enemy you're currently fighting who managed to wipe you out with some cheap ass last minute bullshit move, and in no way reflects upon your views of how faithful the bride is.

Don't know about your situation. But weddings are just horrible. Only wedding I ever liked was my cousins wedding. Outdoors, simple, short, and right after the wedding we walked to the picnic shelter and tapped the keg and ate some BBQ sandwiches!
Honestly if someone really cares about their friends they'll say "The wedding is at 7pm at St. Pius Chapel. Meet us at the Reception at 8pm". Your friends will praise you to death for that. Weddings suck.
Go to the wedding but take some Acid, Heroine, or cut your leg off to deal with the pain of being at a wedding.

IMO there is a big difference between going to the wedding of a friend, and going to the wedding of your long-term, live-in girlfriend's sister in which your girlfriend is the maid of honor. I would go to the ceremony of a friend's wedding anyway, but that's just me. But if it were just a friend of ours getting married and he said "let's just go to the reception", that would be a totally different story. But this is my sister.
But I honestly don't understand what the big fucking deal is. If you're going to the reception then just suck it up and sit for a half hour at the ceremony. Just be a nice person and support the couple and your girlfriend. Don't cry about sitting for a half hour before partying for another 5.

I guess if your GF is the maid of honor that's different. But all in all I've never liked weddings. A) it's a reminder to every single person in the room of how much of a loser your are. B) I get the feeling that most people (specifically the females) are getting married to just get married.
But someone like me can never get married. My dog would be rockin up at the alter with me, I'd be dressed casually, and I'd probably beg my fiance to just do it without me.

He's actually tried that. The other night he tried to make a deal that he'll either go to this wedding or to our wedding.
If you don't like weddings that's fine. But you can't refuse to go to any weddings in your entire life. Sometimes you just need to do these things. This is a guy that hasn't been to a wedding since his dad married his step mother over 10 years ago...a woman who he hates by the way. I can ASSURE you that this wedding will be more enjoyable than watching yoru dad marrying a woman you can't stand.

I hate to tell you. But until we do get married...it's not going to stop whether we're at a wedding or not. I'm sorry you'll have to go through that. I've tried to make it clear that we're not getting married until we are more stable financially. So I've done all that I can do. I hear it too. As much as I talk about us getting married. I know it's not the time for a while so I would never tell them "Oh I'm just waiting on him" or "You have to ask him", etc.

Wait a second. I just caught on. We have DRAMA!!!!:rockwoot: :twfix:
A question for the ladies. If I can find a roofie that lasts 2 months and can convince a female to marry me. Would there be a problem with my dog being my Best Man? He's black and white and already looks like he has a suite on.

Nope. People do stuff like that all the time. Some people have their dog be their ring bearer. If your fiancee agrees to it, you can do whatever you want.
My cousin just got married this summer and he has always been a comic book nerd; so much that he wanted it to be part of his wedding. It was a totally typical wedding made just for the bride, but they hired a guy to wear a Spiderman costume and attend the wedding. He sat in the front row.
3 years? Have fun at the wedding.
Yup.

I guess if I did find a chick I was willing to marry she'd have to be as fucked up as me and would probably have her dog (That must weigh atleast 35lbs) there too.
But I don't understand why people make such big deals out of weddings. Half end in divorce anyways which means when they do remarry for the 2nd-10th time you have to buy them more crap.
Now here is a wedding I'd attend even if I had no clue who the people involved where. Saw them rolling at Deal's Gap a while back.

You, sir, have already messed up. If you didn't want to go, you should have kept that information to yourself and worked it out at the proper time.
You've been with her for 3 years? You know what, relationships are a two way street, and at this point, you're not keeping up your end of the bargain very well.
You are screwing yourself long term. Sometimes you do what you have to do to make your girl happy, regardless of whether you want or not. Not all the time, or every time, but those moments do exist. Weddings are one of those things, so find your suit and have fun.

A little basic math.
More than half of marriages end up in divorce. People who get divorced are far more likely than average to get remarried, then divorced again. This means that more than half of the people who get married do not get divorced ;)
