Since I seem to have a lot of friends who have never broken a single bone, who here has? They dont have to be due to bike accidents, just in general.

Ive broken my pinky playing backyard football (just taped it up and let it heal), may have broken a finger during basketball (once again just taped them, so those Im not sure if they were truly broken), buckle fractured my left wrist playing baseball and most recently, broke my left eye socket from a sledding accident.

When I was 5 (just a couple weeks before starting Kindergarten), I was at my day school, climbing around in a big net/treehouse. They yelled up to me that my Gramma was there to pick me up for swimming lessons, so I hurriedly scrambled out of the net, falling through a large hole, and landing on my back (some 10' below) with my arm bent behind my back.

I wailed and cried, and my Gramma thought I was being over-dramatic, so she ignored me. My mom was outta town, and I was spending the night at my Aunt's house that night. I cried and cried, and she, too, thought I was crying wolf. (Note the pattern here). Finally the next day when I was still wailing, she took me to the Doctor -- arm was broken clear across, just above the elbow.

Then when I was about 14, I was at school, hanging out with a friend just before 1st period. It was winter, and there was some patchy ice on the sidewalk. We went running around a corner and I slid and landed on my ass. Went to first period, where I had a Substitute teacher for Spanish. My hand and wrist were all swollen (my left hand, and I'm a Lefty) but she was a total bitch, and just told me to do my work with my right hand. :panic:

After class, I was in massive pain, so I went to the nurse's office so they could call my Mom. Turned out it wasn't my hand at all, but my elbow - I shattered the radial head.

Pinky and ring finger on my left hand in 2nd grade. Ulna and radius of my right arm coming home from school on the last day of 5th grade. Spent the whole summer in a cast that went up to my armpit.

What funny is this thread started by me and a friend having a conversation about my high threshold of pain. When I broke my face (see thread below) it didnt hurt all that bad to me. I also drove a staple through my finger last week at work and it only tingled for a little while.

Yeowch!!!!

Good opportunity to link that thread for all the new members.

Broke my wrist, ribs, cracked sturinum, collar bone, nose, pinky, fractured ankle, and 2 toes...

wrist was in like 6th grade on recess... slid down a slide head first and someone came down right after me as I was getting up and snap

Ribs, Collar bone and stirnum all happened in the same game of football... was going over the middle for a pass... it was thrown high so I jumped... caught a face mask to my ribs by some 15 year old in a 35 year old body... broke my ribs, tried to brace the fall and broke my collar bone... went out... came back in to run back a kick off... and spun away from one guy but into another... and caught a face mask to the chest and fractured my stirnum...

fractured my pinky punch'n a wall after a bad loss in a basketball game... yeah I was proud of that.

ankle was a the start of my Junior year... in pre game warm ups... my point guard tried to steal a ball from me but stepped under my foot and caused me to roll it OUT... I sat out most of the year... never did regain my vertical leap...

toes were from wheel'n off road... a friend backed over my foot... twice. yeah about 30 mins apart from each other...

lol Yes, I've broken a few:

Right ankle
Left wrist
Took off the end of my left ring finger (including the bone - it was subsequently reattached)
Smith fracture of the right radius and ulna, both sides of both wrist joints broken at the same time
Several toes

All mine just so happen to be from a motorcycle accident:

Broken lower jaw: right and left sides broken and dislocated, broke the front basically in half.
Shattered upper jaw.
Broken orbitals (chinbones.. those required bone grafts).
Broken nose.
Lost my four upper incisors.
Not really bone.. but tore my hard and soft palate all the way back to my uvula.

Face planting (even with a full-face helmet) is bad, mmkay? Though since I was wearing full gear, nothing else was hurt (just a few bruises and some liner burn).

Damn. I forgot to mention my nose. My brother threw a frisbie at me when I wasn't looking, then called my name AFTER he threw it. As soon as I turned...SMACK!....the ridge of the frisbie got my nose.

I always believe in getting even, especially in my teens & a couple of months later I got him back, except I broke his with a baseball. *evilgrin* :lmao:

I was in the gym and dropped a 10lb plate off the bar on the bench press on my big toe. Fractured it, no biggie, taped it and limped for a couple weeks.

Destroyed the tendons and ligaments in my left ankle in high school playing football, I think there was probably a fracture in there but it didn't show in the x-ray. That one took a year to get near normal again and it's still weak as hell.

Left ulna on roller skates when I was 8, tailbone while giving birth to second yungun, that bone behind the pinkie finger, little toes, and my ex used my face to launch me across the room fracturing my nose right where it meets my skull. I left him with a couple of scars over that one...

In chronological order:

Cracked skull, age 6. Tried to slide down a pole from a second story balcony, (Batman style) This particular injury comes in handy when people ask if I was dropped on my head as a child. I can honestly say, "No, I jumped."

Nose #1, age 13, fell into a canoe (nose first).

Age 16, both legs (multiple fractures) left arm (more multiple fractures), 5 ribs and one collarbone. Norton vs. guard-rail. Guard-rail declared winner.

Nose #2, age 18. Barfight. Marines have no sense of humor. To be fair, some of them did laugh.

Tailbone, age 20. Fell off of a roof while trying to retrieve a rubber-band powered bird. I might have been high at the time.

Right Index finger, age 23. Did you know that some cars have fans that come on, even though the car is not running? I didn't. Six stitches in the nail-bed of my pointy finger. Ouch.

Big toe, age 29. Landed wrong. It happens. Take it from me, don't mix porn fantasies and playground equipment. You'll break your toe.

Shoulder, age 40. Pocket-bike highside at speed. Was able to establish a new brakemarker by crawling backwards.

Other bones: I know I'm forgetting a couple, but I'm chalking that up to cracked skull at age 6.

Officially, meaning I actually got medical treatment, such as it was, a shattered collar bone. High sided an RD400 and launched myself through a fence. My head went through but a 4x4 concrete post stopped my collar bone.
I've probably broken and cracked a few things but didn't go to a Doctor, just take some OTC and push (or limp) on through. :panic:

Thats how I do things too. I went willingly to the hospital for my wrist, I was 13. When I broke my eye socket I was forced to go, mainly because my eyebrow wouldnt stop bleeding. They found the break shortly after.

Let's see, I've shattered my left eye socket, broken most of my knuckles, had my nose broken a couple of times, and lots of bruised and cracked ribs, some of which are now malformed. Good times. And it sucks, because I'm a total pussy when I break something, I cry like a girl and roll around. God, I'm a pansy.

I'm getting old. I can't remember all this shit at one time. I broke my tailbone learning to skate at age 8. I fell & one of my legs folded under me. Skate wheel decided to try to wedge itself in my ass only to be stopped by my tailbone.

Lucky for me the tailbone stopped it or I would have been sodomized at an early age. :lmao: As it was I felt violated. :lmao:

Broken more cartilage than bones... Nose x3... thumb x1... sprained both ankles at least 3x each... dislocated both thumbs and a couple fingers... strained MCL in one knee, severely strained ACL in the other... that's be diagnosed, both have fallen out of place a number of times since... pooped a german shepard once, but that was just coincidence....

Fractured skull: Fell down a flight of stairs and hit a radiator, head on, when I was 4.

Broken collarbone: Got hit from behind while riding by a guy who claimed to be a former racer, while I was braking to avoid an idiot in a car. Apparently he'd never heard of 'loading the front wheel' prior to applying full brakes.

Re-broken collarbone: A photography accident.

- Broken nose from when my brother threw a baseball at me.
- Broken ring and middle finger on my left hand playing football

That's about it for broken bones. I have far too many soft tissue injuries to list.

My nose from boxing.

Right after 9/11/01 I got hit pretty much head on by a car while on a cruiser and...

My left femur (compound fracture...poked out of my jeans) That sucked.

Left ankle (foot got twisted around with toes pointed backwards and foot swining in the wind) That sucked worse.

Left heel crushed and had to be rebuilt. In the long run this sucked the most since it still bothers me.

First two doctors said to amputate at the knee but the 3rd guy (orthopedic surgeon) thought he could save my leg but it would take several surgeries and two skin grafs.

That's pretty much it.

Not too many broken bone issues but when it comes to stitches...I've had a few several times thoughout my life. :panic:

Age 9 - Fractured Skull again, rode my bicycle into an open man hole cover (don't ask)

Age 26 - Sternum, decided to jump a Go-Kart and landed on the front end, the steering column fractured my sternum....

Age 30 - R. Wrist, high sided my FZR and rode home w/it broken

Age 37 - 5 Breaks of the Pelvis, Right Leg went through my Right Hip 4", multiple small bones in my left foot, Radial Head of my Left Elbow destroyed, Left Radius shattered, 6 broken ribs on left side.....Head On Collision while on a Motorcycle

Going into the right hand turn #11 at Moroso, another rider drilled me while I was in full lean, hence the body damage and no real damage to the bike. The front wheel and nose of his bike is what made impact with my scapula, complete break, top to bottom.

The fingers was from when I was about 5, the neighbors were having a party and I was looking out my window when it slammed down on my fingers.

The first time I broke my toes I was about 12. I was washing my horse and I stood in front of her to wash her face and she stepped forward onto my feet and *CRUNCH*.

3 months later, all toes healed and given the Dr.'s go ahead to resume normal activity, went out to pasture to get THE SAME horse and load her into a trailor to take her for a horse show and she stepped on them again as I was leading her into the trailor.

That's how I broke mine the first time. My grandmother, dad's mom, had a heartattack and we couldn't get in the house. Every door and window was locked except for the one in the bathroom over the bathtub. She lived in an old house and the windows were spring loaded. This window had a particularly heavy spring. My dad was trying to lift the window up that was about head height for him (I was 12 and wasn't quite 5 foot) while I jumped up to climb inside. As I was hoisting myself up, his grip slipped. My fingers were in the seal and I didn't move my left hand in time. CRUNCH. I still managed to get into the window and find my grandmother laying peacefully on her bed. I didn't realize my hand hurt until we got the the ER. They were swollen and had blood under the nails, and one was a little bloody.

Fractured skull when I was 10. No other bones as of yet. Plenty of skinned knees, sprained wrists, and bumped heads. I can't shave my head for fear of it looking like a lumpy potato.

Never broken a major bone.
I've stubbed my toes many times, and who hasn't had a chair yanked out from under them... that usually results in a broken coccyx.
Still, to my knowledge, I've never broken anything of consequence.

In my case I didn't break them, but should have. When I was 4 (that was a very bad year for me ) I was reaching into the crack at the front of the car door and my father slammed it closed on my hand. It tore the skin off 4 knuckles and likely would have broken all the fingers, if it hadn't been such a hoopdie with a door that wasn't hung right.

What brand and model helmet were you wearing, so we can all avoid purchasing one for ourselves? I face-planted pretty hard at 70 mph and aside from seeing stars for a few moments my head was fine.

HJC.. don't remember the model. The kicker is I had an Arai on order at CycleGear (I wanted a particular design that was on backorder). After the accident, I cancelled that order and bought a black Arai Corsair.

I broke fingers and knuckles mostly in fights. Punched people I shouldn't have, or objects I shouldn't have, that sort of thing. I was also an aircraft mechanic and broke fingers and toes handling heavy equipment and cargo. Steel/safety toe boots only do so much, folks.

OK, here goes:

I have broken a couple fingers on my right. Along with cracks in the bones in my wrist, and the "long bone" in the hand for my pointer finger cracked AND bent, if you look at it now you can see it's got an arc in it. I hit someone, once, hard.

Broken middle finger on my left hand, a gust of wind slammed a solid wood security door onto my hand and broke the finger. It destroyed the growth plate for my finger, so now my middle fingernail on my left hand is about twice as thick as a normal fingernail.

Busted my left knee in a lowside in '03, I think it cracked my kneecap, but it definitely tore some shit up. Screwed up my back too, and now it pops when I move around.

Broke two ribs in a highside in '05. Picked my bike back up and rode home, then went on to take a two-week Divemaster training course about a week later. Ribs are still slightly deformed.

I put a hairline fracture into my upper jaw when I was about five, chasing my brother, tripped, and caught the edge of a coffee table with my upper lip, above my teeth but below my nose. Literally split my lip in two, took sixteen stitches to put it back together, and I still have a scar on my lip and under my nose from it. It's why I don't grow a mustache, no hair grows on the scar and it looks weird.

That must have royally sucked. Did they put hardware in to fix it or just let it heal?

Tom

That was the threat but it never happened....I wore a sling and was told by the doctors if it didn't heal correctly they would go back in and re-break it and place a plate and more screw in my body.....
