Boy Teen is looking for some of the games from Final Fantasy, 7 & 8, I think.

He has a Nintendo 64, PS, PS2, XBox, and XBox 360 gaming systems (he also has my Super Nintendo and Atari, but they're technically still mine no matter what he thinks! )

Where would be a good place online to find them. I'm not for sure, but I think he's looking for the older ones, Maybe for Nin64? Anyway, even a used gaming store would work. The ones we have here don't have them (I've looked).

Oh, and does anyone know if/when Diablo III can be pre ordered? :D

Thanks! :D

you're looking for OLD games??

I'm not for sure what system he's looking for them on. I know he wants FF 7 & 8. Eight has been fairly easy to find at a decent price, but 7 looks to be pretty popular (i.e. expensive) judging from the prices on Ebay.

Sorry...i can't help with the gay games lol........... j/k :p

There's a place near my new house that has all kinds of "older" games...thats all they do...Of course there's Ebay but you've been there.

The chain game stores, like GameStop, certainly wouldn't have them... Sometimes you can find local stores that do... I fixed PS2's for a couple guys who owned a little store in Columbus and they had a ton of that shit...

I'd say eBay is probably your best bet... keep an eye on Craigslist too...

I am! I'm just looking to save a little money. If I have to, I'll pay a little more. My son didn't ask for much for Christmas this year: just these games, an MP3 Player, and some clothes. I'm aiming to get everything on his list. :D

I think FF 7 and 8 are both PS one games that will work in PS2.

Unfortunatly I gave my PS one away many moons ago. Along with my Final Fantasy games...

You might try calling a Vintage Stock (they sell old used games) and see if they will ship it...

yep ps1, and ebay is def your best bet. unfortunately those were ungodly popular so they may be expensive. might do better to steal em and run them on epsxe.

and if you feel like being a rapscallion, both of those can be found here:
http://romhustler.net/roms/psx/f
both are large multiple downloads and need another program called winrar to unzip and assemble them as cd .iso files, the free version will work fine:
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

and finally you will need a playstation emulator to run it on your computer, i suggest epsxe which can be found here:
http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psx/epsxe.html

p.s. i cant remember if epsxe will run an .iso directly so you may need to either burn the .iso onto a disc (easy) or mount it onto a virtual cdrom drive with an emulator such a daemon tools which can be found here:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.php

um basically someone copied the game from its disc and compressed it and chopped it up into different files. and the emulator is a software program that acts like a playstation so you can run it on your computer. i hope thats better lol

It did.

A friend of mine actually has both of those games for PS2. He told me if I got a PS2 for here, he'd let have those games since he never plays them anymore. My son already has a PS2 at his dad's so now I'm off to find a good used PS2 for here....my friend and I both would like the games...at least 7....to stay here.

gotcha, gamestop is probably your best bet then. avoid early models. you can easily tell them apart from newer ones cause they have a firewire port next to the two usb ports

Not necessarily... I've repaired about an equal amount of all of them, none seem to be particularly better or worse than the others. PS2 on it's side however, is generally bad. Door mechanisms and lasers were the primary points of failure on PS2's in general... those that lived on their sides seemed to have more issues than those that did not.

I don't know dick about the newest PS2 version, but the slimline was in general a POS... I gave up on trying to fix those... they were more cheaply build and everything from the housing to the laser mechanism were less robust than previous versions.

I talked to a guy at GameStop the other day and he said it was amazing. I guess it's broken up into four different 'episodes'... multi-player is where it's at and single player in general sucks.

meh the version number is important but its alot easier to tell her to look for ports. i think my last one was a v7 and it never had issues. went to iraq twice!

I now have FF 7, 8, and 9. A friend let me buy them from him.

Now what I need is a PS2 Console. I was told by one person to get the slim line, not the original because it doesn't work as well. But another person told me that the original is just fine and the slim line can't get online.

Now I don't know which one to get. Ugh.

Ok here's the deal...

1) The Slimeline PS2 comes with the ethernet built in, so getting online is a matter of plugging the cord into the PS2 and the other end into your router/switch/hub/modem (whatever you use to break out your network).

2) Personally, I think the Slimline is more cheaply built. I've bounced regular PS2's off the concrete sidewalk (oops!) and they've been fine. I've seen Slimeline PS2's that were pulled off a TV onto a hardwood floor crack (but still function ok).

3) There's much debate over which is better, which is worse... Some folks claim over-heating issues and more laser issues with the Slimline... I've seen more lasers than anything. I think that's just because of the fact that the laser is exposed every time you open it up to access the disc.

4) If your son likes FF as much as it looks like, the fatty PS2 is probably better anyway. FFXI comes with a hard drive and is NOT compatible with the Slimline PS2 for that very reason. Slimline = no HDD. The downside is, you need to buy a network adapter (or wait 400 years for Drewpy to send you one)... They go on eBay for like $10-$15 shipped.

Plus, with the network adapter, you can hack the PS2 really, really easily using HD Advance and it allows you to put a huge HDD into the PS2 and pirate all sorts of games onto it (just borrow games and copy them to the HDD, then play until your thumbs fall off).

But do any of them play PS1? If not, then there's no point for her to drop a couple hundred bucks on a console that won't play FF7, 8, or 9.
