So, up the street we have what we refer to as the Crazy Christmas Cul du Sac. They have a thing for Christmas. It started small a few years ago, and has gotten larger each year. This year - they are renting decorations, I saw the company out there last weekend setting up the pole for the overhead lights and putting out the stuff on the curbs. It's ridiculous.

I will give them SOME credit - they have an EZ-up in the center of the cul du sac that has food shelf donations... and they are out there every night with a bon fire. I'm curious if they let people know before they buy a house on the street that you have to drink the Kool Aide? Last year, there was one for sale that didn't sell all season. Wonder why??

Going in...

This is the most crazy of the houses. Each one of the others has a stand out front doing the Night Before Christmas.

Makes me miss home!! When I lived in DFW it was nothing to see whle neighborhoods decorated, it was tradition to drive around Christmas Eve and see them all! I agree, it is a bit much, but it just makes my heart happy to see such festivity!

There is a HUGE neighborhood about 30 minutes from here that looks like that.

No joke, probably 85% of the 'hood decorates like that.

I am actually putting together a group ride to go up there next weekend. We'll have to take some pics.

I think it is cool.

My kids would go nuts if we drove down that street. Every other night we take the long way home from the sitters so the kids can look at all the lights. They love it.

there is a street here in Terre Haute known as Miller Ave. It use to be that way. I haven't driven down there for a couple years but it seemed that it was dying out.

When i lived in that neighborhood last year, I was walking my dog and saw that and went down there and talked to them a bit. Nice people, and I think it's nice rather than ridiculous - they get a LOT of donations.

It's like when we go to the races.

A bunch of bikes start out together headed in the same direction.

Some make it some don't.

The group gets spread out and either you or I usually end up in the dirt.

Seriously!!

They don't put up the decorations - they have someone come in and put them up. THAT is what makes it ridiculous. GREAT people - just a little off....

thats a bunch of bullshit, there is a couple people that do that here. You need to do the decorations yourself. It's mandatory. I even have disgust for people who have the synced lights like I do that didn't build the system themselves and just purchased a retail version.

It does not look right with out the snow.

I have a friend that only works about 4 months out of the year and makes pretty good money. His company puts up and takes down lights in the crazy rich hoods of Cali. He owns the company and said its crazy what these people pay us to put up holiday lights.

That's nothing - my in-laws live in Naples, FL and 90% of the homes in their entire neighborhood put up lots of lights and decorations, about half of them have as much as in those pics. On one street, the whole lot of them get together and have candy cane arches over the sidewalks, etc. Crazy.

On Christmas Eve, cars are lined up entering the neighborhood just to drive though and see it all, with police directing traffic. I've never seen anything like it.
