So I work with a self righteous, lying idiot. He is ultra christian, but I guess in his bible lying about work you have not done is not a sin. Rolleyes! About midday, I smash his little finger in a server rack, and he cries like a girl. So I didn't release the pressure right away once I noticed his finger was stuck. lol I am cracking up while I type. So that was fun, but it was an accident. I notice he is wiring up a circuit that goes to a piece of equipment that provides 220. We unplug the cards to keep from getting shocked while we wire, then plug in the card. So I go plug in his cards for him. I am just a nice guy like that. A few minutes later, I hear "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!, I thought I unplugged those cards." LOLOLOLOL So I say, "I guess you forgot! That hurts doesn't it!"

Moral of the story: Don't be an ass at work.

So basically you came on the internet to post that you knowingly caused at least one safety related injury to your fellow coworker. I would have your ass fired on spot. Electricity is not a joke, especially at 220.

Meanwhile, across town, at www.servertechniciansforchrist.com....

So I work with an evil sinner. He is ultra going to hell, but I guess that reading a lot of Kurt Vonnegut novels makes him feel special. Rolleyes! About midday, he smashes my little finger in the server rack, but I made not a sound, for I know the good LORD is watching after my finger. lol I am praying for him while I type. So that hurt, and I know he did it on purpose. I notice that he's watching me wire up a circuit that goes to a piece of equipment that provides, ( much like the LORD) 220. We unplug the cards to avoid rapture while we wire, then plug in the card. So he goes and plugs the card in for me. He's just a damned soul like that. A few minutes later, I hear "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I thought you would have died by now. LOLOLOLOL So I say, "Jesus loves you. Shock me again!"

Moral of the story: I wish I was Jewish.

It's nasty shit.

I live and breath electrical safety every day at work. I would hate to see anyone of the crew no matter how much I dislike them that works on the circuit breaker program I oversee get injured from an arc flash. I have had a 250vdc burn, it's not pretty and was on my hand for a long damn time.

I am all for playing pranks to keep work fun, but injuring someone isn't funny. Posting about doing it at work is a really bad idea.

What you did was pretty fucked up. I work for a subcontracter of AT&T and am constantly working around power, gas, etc. It's no fucking joke at all. Luckily for us when we get hit with 1,000,000volts we die instantly.

I normally work with 3 other people and I get along with them great. Two of them AT&T workers in the T-40s (big bucket trucks) doing ariel work. One guy is outright nuts. A good buy but crazier than hell (Old Harley/triumph rider from the 70s. Did every drug known to man). I think he's awesome though and we love working together. The other AT&T guy is my best friend. His daughters are like sisters to me. Then another guy with my company we call Crazy Larry. He has 8 teeth total and sounds cajun. You can hardly understand him but I've never met anyone tougher in my life (Even at 65years old). If he lost his leg he'd just shrug it off and keep on working.

Most of my co-workers are ex-cons (Or illegal Mexicans) but they are all great people.

1 MegaVolt? Where in the world are you working with one megavolt? The most TVA has is 500kV. We have people that have been hit with 161kV and lived. We have had others blow arms, legs, crotches off. Some pretty nasty stuff. Volts aren't much of a concern anyway, it's the amps that pack a punch.

On another interesting note, I have held a powerline that was hot at 161kV in my hand. It was one of the most interesting sensations I have ever felt. Even though we were at same potential, it still kinda vibrated and gave off a very odd sensation.

I'm use to incompetence. I work for the government and we can't get rid of it in fact we promote it. I am not going to risk my job because of it though. You got to watch out for people like that, they will not hesitate to file a grievance.

Our directional bore crew hit a 1million volt and a 500k line. Knocked out an entire city grid. I almost shoved a shovel through a 1,000v.

I'm not too sure about all the power but I work a good bit with Georgia Power and have talked to those guys. Some of the guys have to handle power in full insulated suits (They normally use gloves only) but those are usually sub-contracts (Highly paid) who mess with that. One of hte power guys use to work on lines from a helicopter. I think he said he worked with 1million and 500 cause I remember asking him what's the difference between a million and 500k if you get hit. He said 500k is open casket 1million is closed casket because it vaporizes you. Apparently one of their guys was killed when he had a pinhole leak in his insulated suit and the electricity jumped into this suit. They said there was barely anything left.

I helped put a power pole back in once that had some high voltage lines in it. I had rubber gloves on but damn you could feel that bitch humming.

Gas mains are my favorite things to bust.

Why? If someone injured me purposefully on the job, no matter how minor, I would make sure they got fired. If they are going to give you a jolt, how can you trust them when you are actually doing something hazardous? Your job is not like playing around at home. People should remember that when they are on the clock. If you don't like the people you work with, find a job somewhere else, don't endanger them.

I've been on the wrong side of 115 volt 3 phase 400hz before. Not fun I assure you. I did it to myself though. I was plugging in some equipment using a harness with metal connectors that are the screw in type. I was screwing in both ends at the same time and one of my fingers caught one of the 4 prongs and with my other hand on the grounded connector, I got zapped. Good thing I only got 1 phase but still 400hz wakes you up quickly.

I was a co-chair of electrical safety committee for several years at my job. I live and practice electrical safety in everything I do, I would fire an employee for purposefully shocking another employee. I couldn't trust that employee with any jobs that are required to be in this field and therefore they would be completely useless to me. That is honestly the way I feel. It's not like he had a shock pen or something goofy like that, he literally used work equipment to play this prank. Of course, most people don't have the strict rules my position requires to maintain employment. You can't torque a bolt unless it is written in a step by step procedure with specific guidelines and vendor documents supporting those guidelines and the procedure along with the torque wrench itself having full traceability and testing to ensure it is in tolerance.

I can appreciate your stance on the subject at hand, especially coming from your point of view.

What I was debating was the "no matter how small / can't trust them" line of thinking.

Basically, if a co-worked WERE to zap you with a shock pen they are instantly deemed incapable of being trusted in a life or death situation.

A shock pen is different from using work equipment that is known to have 220 on it. I wouldn't pursue someone for a shock pen. Using work equipment that has potentially fatal levels of amperage is another thing.

Even putting aside the issue of safety, for which I would also fire someone if in the position to do so, it's also putting the EQUIPMENT at risk.

It depends on what you consider on the job. If I am sitting in my cube getting a shocking pen, I wouldn't do anything about. If I am out in the plant "on the job" with my hands on equipment and I get shocked, then yes I would pursue it.

Pranks are cool unless they kill you. What would you have done if the bible thumping prick had passed on? How would you feel?

Had a visit with my good neighbor on the 4th of July. He and some college friends were gonna party, they invited me. While conversing my 3 year old was staring lovingly at a GSXR1000 (I know squid!) and one of the college boys pulls into the driveway with his girl and flings about 20 lit firecrackers at us "dudes" not seeing the 3 year old...:zowned: My kid handled it.
