With the PSL you avoid the cheapy pinned barrel that you get in a lot of Dragunov knockoffs but you aren't paying the crazy prices you would for a true SVD shop rifle.

Adeptus_Minor

No, I don't want the Beretta, goddammit... I read up on the Taurus before I decided to buy it.
It is a model 99 (92 with adjustable sights), it has the decocking lever within easy reach of my thumb, and very few bad reviews.
The weight doesn't concern me because I'm not looking for a CCW... as I see it, that's just a little more recoil control.

Yeah all firearms get a dry fire from time to time and seven dollars is cheap. They do seem cheaply made but I really like all the old soviet surplus stuff. I got my curio and relics dealer license so I could buy that stuff cheap off the net but it has to be more than 50 years old.

II like my AR's just fine (Currently Have 4 in various configurations) Couple things to know, They tend to get dirty and are a bit more temperamental then an AK. They are more accurate AKs, but as a rule they are only as reliable as their magazines, If you are going to get an AR lay in a large supply of USGI magazines. (count on the gun grabbers trying to ban these this time out) I would stay away from cutesy after market mags aand gadget mags. Oh and if you are going to use a suppressor of any kind on it get wear glasses at all times. The stoner direct gas systems in combination with a suppressor pushes a lot of dirt and gas back at the shooter.

In 1980, Taurus purchased the Beretta factory in Sao Paulo, Brazil "lock, stock and barrel" and immediately sought to improve on the Beretta design, resulting in the popular and acclaimed Taurus 92 and 99 9mm pistols.
No, I don't want the Beretta, goddammit... I read up on the Taurus before I decided to buy it.

The 9mm version of the AUG was more or less a conversion kit that Steyr introduced because of the modular design of the gun that makes it really easy to convert. Slap in new barrel, new bolt, magazine adaptor and 9mm magazine. I don't even know if anybody actually bought the 9mm version of the Steyr AUG.

I use an Eotech on my AR Carbine which is sold as Holographic sight it is a great sight come up fast and minimizes sighting times because you are not lining up a front and rear sight and your target you are simply putting the dot on the target. The down side is that if the batteries die it is useless but it cowitness well and I can use my iron sights without it turned on.
On my Aks I have a couple different reflex sights On My VEPR I have Kopra or some times called a Kobra. great reflex sight tough as a box of nails (the one I ahve has a chip in the out case from when a goober buddy of mine slammed a taligait on it and it works great. Again battery dies useless. On my Ak74 I am using an interesting sight PKSV that illustrates the the basic difference between western bloc and eastern block thinking (Remember dusing the space race we spent millions developing a pen that would write in space the russians sent a pencil) The PKSV is essentialy a non-magnified scope with a recticle that is a 100 minute of angle circle and a 1 minute of angle dot in the middle. You can adjust illumination of the center dot but should the battery die you still have the the non illuminated sight. More parallex than the other two but works EVERY time. For my older eyes I love these types of sights.

If I were buying it for carry or with the plans to use it for a home defense weapon, that might matter to me. But then I wouldn't be getting a 92 frame either.
What I want is the capacity, the accuracy, and the lower cost to operate (9mm vs. .40, .45, etc). A full frame pistol specifically for the shooting range.

Current Efforts to Ban “Assault Weapons”
H.R. 1022, introduced by Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), would ban every gun banned in 1994, plus guns made to comply with the ban; guns exempted by the ban; fixed-magazine, semi-automatic, center-fire rifles holding more than 10 rounds; semi-automatic shotguns; detachable-magazine semi-automatic rifles; and any semi-automatic shotgun or rifle an Attorney General one day claims isn’t “sporting.” Meanwhile, bills have been introduced in some states to ban pump-action firearms as “assault weapons.”60 That idea, conceived by Donna Dees-Thomases, the founder of the Million Mom March and a friend of Sen. Hillary Clinton, is urged by the Legal Community Against Violence, which has drafted a “model” assault weapon bill to be used in state legislatures.61

I just purchased a new deer/sniper rifle  last night. Tikka T3 Lite SS left handed bolt action in a .300WM. :rockout: I'll get pics up soon.
Excellent choice. Here's my Tikka T3 Lite in blued steel & .223 next to its bigger sister Sako M75 SS .300 Win Mag.

Are you using the stock Tikka scope rings? How are they working out for you?
