View Full Version : Anyone NOT like sports?

I dont unless it involves wheels and motors*except nascar*, but anything that involves throwing, hitting a ball, etc, bores the life out of me, i guess i just dont get it:idk:

edit: just to be clear, i religiously follow motorcycle road racing, except Moto GP 125's and 250's

I really like about any kind of auto racing, especially offroad, and except nascar(500 of the same lap in identical cars is too much)

but watching a bunch of dudes chase around a ball, or hit a ball, puck , etc is really boring to me

plus i dont have anything against anyone that enjoys sports, i just dont myself

I don't DISlike sports, but I don't follow them, for the most part. I'll watch a football game with friends (and I do cheer for the Gators), but I don't keep up with it generally speaking.

However, GOING to games (baseball, football or hockey) is a blast. I LOVE going to games. It's much more exciting in person than on T.V., IMO.

Basketball, however, whether live or on T.V., whether pro or college, is the single most useless creation to ever bounce upon this earth. Seriously, I cannot think of a more boring passtime than watching basketball.

I will admit, lately I've developed a liking for MMA fights. Boxing always bored the shit out of me, but MMA is pretty exciting (I can't believe I just admitted that publicly).

Don't like to watch sports. Played all kinds in school but even then couldn't stand to just sit and watch anything. Jeeps has got me hooked on motorcycle racing though.

You know, I guess that's kinda where I fall too.
I don't "hate" sports, but I've never taken any real interest in them.
I can count on one hand the number of football games I'll sit and watch any given season, and none of those are just me sitting by myself watching for my own enjoyment.
I've been to pro & minor league events (hockey & baseball) and I do agree that they are much more fun to watch live than on TV. Hockey especially, with the right seats.
MMA works ok for me, but I have to admit I like it better when two strikers are fighting as opposed to all the ground fighting and submission stuff.

One thing I really don't like about sports is how much brain power and money so many people willingly throw into sports fandom. :screwy:

I only "get" two kinds of sports. motorcycle racing, and UFC. mmmm fast shiny bikes and kickass riders, and perfectly good men beating the living shit outta each other for my entertainment. what could be better than this? aside from naked cheerleader jello wrestling.

grew up with sports, enjoy watching them as well but I'm not that crazy fan that can site any or every historic or non historic event that ever happened and don't have a house full of team related junk and don't spend money on season tickets and such.

I love Football and really enjoy watching it. The Dallas Cowboys are my team.

I was a big Basketball fan but haven't watched much since the strike. I was betting a lot then and when they went on strike I didn't have much to bet on. I was piss and still haven't forgave them. The Chicago Buls were my team.

I like Hockey but don't watch it all the time. I love playing it

Baseball I like playing but will only watch it every now and then.

Boxing is my favorite sport. Roy Jones Jr. is my favorite boxer.

MMA I liked more in the beginning. I miss the days when you would have two guys in the cage, each with a different style of fighter and only having that one style. That I liked. Not as much as Boxing but I liked it. There is to much ground work now. That to me is boring. I like when they keep it on their feet but it doesn't happen enough.

I also like Olympia sports. (Summer and winter)

Motor sports?

I like Motorcross. James "Bubba" Steward is on of my favorites.

I like the touring cars but never see much coverage so I don't follow it.

I like Rally racing but don't follow it.

I like Superbike but don't follow it.

I've always been athletic and played sports (and still do) but I don't enjoy watching sports. Memorizing sports stats is a waste of brain space. I've watch probably no more than 3 full hours aggregate of Sports Center in my entire life.

Why would I care who won the 1967 World Series? How does that in any way change or benefit my life.

I'm more of a Discovery Channel guy.

Wait till you end up on a game show and they say "And here is the final question. Get this right and you go home with 400 Million dollars and a weekend at the Playboy mansion. Get it wrong and you get a toaster oven. Here is the question. You have 10 seconds to answer. Who...won..the 1967...WORLD...Series? Cue music. Ten seconds later you are holding a toaster oven (that turns out to have a problem with the switches and burns anything you put in it) as you watch the bunnies walk off the stage. Then the government is pissed because of the tax money they would have made off of you. They are so piss off that they audit you.

All of this because rather then learning some sports stats you use that space to remember the lyrics to the I love the world song. :panic:

I can pretty much go to any sporting event on any level and be entertained. Its just something about the atmosphere...

I AM about done with professional sports though... when its no longer about the game and more about the money.. its not worth watching anymore. Execept hockey... i'd rather watch college....

I don't think its all about the money for everyone. Sidney Crosby from what I remember didn't go for the bigger paycheck. Charles Barkley didn't play for the money. I'm sure there are more. No matter where you go you will find people that are in any job just for the money. Look at any forum for post by people looking for info on jobs. Most are only worried about the money.

I have to agree. I never got the "chase the ball" thing.

Look at Golf. What the fuck is that? Dude has a ball, paid good money for it. Puts the ball on a little stick, and then whacks the fuck out of it with a bigger stick. Ball goes flying into the woods. Problem solved, right?

No. Now the dude goes looking for the ball so he can hit it again. He's afraid he might have lost the ball, and he's freaking out. This is where I get lost. If you liked the ball so goddamned much, why the fuck did you hit it with a stick, and make it fly into the woods? Idiots.

I didn't like it at first. But my brother is about 13 years younger then me and one day was given two free buckets of balls from a friend for a driving range. He asked me to take him. I hit one of the buckets and I found that I was hitting it farther then most of the people there. I started to like it at that point and went back again. This time I was set on hitting that big rock with the 300 on it. I put everything into it and was hooking and slicing like a mother fucker. Must have been beginners luck the first time. LOL.

Usually if it doesn't involve engines, I don't watch. I don't dislike sports, I just don't actively seek them out. However there are times I can enjoy watching Baseball, football, basketball, boxing etc, but not much. Occasionally a team or an athlete will get my attention but it has never turned into a strong pull. My list of players that I enjoyed watching is short, but a few were Ali, Pistol Pete (when at LSU), Jim Clark, Suger Ray, Mark Donahue, Cale Yarbourgh, Petty and Pearson and anyone on a Motorcycle. I would probably rather watch paint dry than watch golf and would probably take golf over Bill Dance. But hey, thats just me.

The only type of athletic competition that actually holds my interest is something along these lines (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz4KY9x8F24) :dthumb:

I just don't see the point in most sports, and can't relate to rabid fans at all. In particular, I can't figure out why anybody thought it was a good idea to televise golf or baseball, unless it was to make people look forward to the excitement of the commercial breaks.

I'm not a sports fan... I'll watch a decent football game and enjoy... Pretty much everything else sucks, unless it's a REALLY good game... If there's anything I sorta follow it's MMA, and even then I really don't care much about it.

Watching sports on TV bores the hell out of me. I could care less about players or teams.

I'll play football.
I'll play basketball.
I'll play baseball.
I'd rather ride my own bike than watch some else do it.

Hockey and Motorcycle Roadracing are a close tie for first with me.

You could probably say it without the lisp if you pulled that cock out of your mouth.

If watching other men play sports on TV makes you more of a man, then is the same true for watching some other guy bang your ol' lady?
