I say we have a contest to see who can post the picture of themselves, their bike, and a bank sign to see who can get the coldest. We are doing it on a local forum, but figured I would post it here too for anyone interested.

Here is my entry.

Hmmmmph. Unless I make an immediate move somewhere north, that leaves me out. But if I lived up north, I wouldn't ride when snow or a chance of ice on the roads either.

That's aight. When summer gets here, let's have a contest to see who's riding geared in 100 plus heat with unbearable humidity. ;)

Yeah we Floridians woudn't stand a chance! I mean, to US, it's butt ass cold today -- it's 40-ish, with windchills in the low 30's... but to people north of the Mason-Dixon, it's probably shorts and flip flops weather.

WNC can get pretty nippy too.

I'm not in the pic - but my bike is (the blue DR). I took the pic last last week on a dualsport ride. We had snow, ice, and mud - does this count?

sorry - bad quality

(the beemer had to turn around - wrong tires)

I have no doubt other people will post much colder pictures. Just thought it would be interesting to see how cold everyone will go out in.

getting dirty doesn't count, people ride dirty all year round. Street should be the only thing that counts.

About 1/2 the ride was on pavement, plus I had to take a different way home than the rest: NC209 - no traffic, dry and clean :rockout:

It's still off road, thats a year round thing. It's normal around here. Everyone rides DS and dirt while their sportbikes are winterized in this area.

Yeah, cause it's so much warmer outside if you're on a dual sport.

It's not unusual to see dual sport/dirt rides in the winter in this part of the country. It's considered regular season for those rides, not like a sportbike ride.

Lets let dual sport count, as long as you take a picture in front of a bank sign with the temperature on it. Anything street legal, even scooters if you feel really cool that day.

You just need to be that idiot. Its fun. I thought my thighs had frostbite. I was wearing regular socks, shoes jeans, t-shirt, hoodie, jacket, and helmet. The scorpion anti-fog doesn't work well when it turns into frost immediately.

It was 2F this morning with 40mph winds. No way in hell I'm riding in that- I'd have frostbite by the time I made it to the bank! :panic:

I rode my friend's Suzuki 185 to his new place when he moved out of mine. It was 34* and I got sleeted/hailed on the way over. One hand on the bars and one covering my balls.

It was well worth it too. His psychotic girlfriend moved out too :rockwoot:

About that picture in the first post, how do we know that the guy doesn't live 1/2 a block from the bank? :idk:

Yeah, that pic says 1c though, not 1 degree

Can I just park my bike next to the huge snow bank in front of my house and take a pic to win?

Or I could grab my digital thermometer (after I get it thawed out) and put it on the bike near said snowbank and take a pic.

Nearest bank with a sign is 25+ miles away... fuck that.

I don't think I'm gonna win this one from South Carolina, either... but I still like this pic

(really, *really* not in my driveway!)

I could have gotten a 33-degree sign a few days later, but I was too busy trying to find a hotel, so I could get the hell off the road before the snow that had been melting all day could turn to ice...

Absolutely not. Those are meant for snow, sportbikes are not.

This is the coldest I have any pictures of... I've ridden in colder though. This particular day I was on a 350 mile trip from Decatur, IL to Columbus, OH. This picture was in Montezuma, Indiana at 1:45pm, and was the highest temp I saw the entire day

This is degrees F, btw. It had actually just changed from 16 to 17 right when I pulled in to take the picture

A little warmer in this one (different day and different location)

On my way to a New Years party, on the way home at about 5 am it was 26 but I didn't want to stop. I was miserable.

EDIT: Yes I realize I had miss the new years, I was busy watching the Chick Fil A bowl at a bar. This things have precedence over social parties. :)

Nah. Yankees love their North Face and will use any excuse to sport it.

Coldest I have ever rode in was 16degree weather (Not sure what the windchill was but there were 20mph winds). I rode for roughly 2 hours running errands.

Are we going to try and set some kind of distance rule. As in don't just ride your bike to the corner where a bank sits. Gotta be doing something like going to work, school, church, or the one legged asian whore house

We rode yesterday but it was mid to upper 30's. That was cold enough for me...come on spring time !!

Any colder than this then I'm taking the Vette and if it snows...then it's time for the 4X4 Cherokee to come out. :lol

I don't wanna hear it from FL. I was living there, nice and fucking cozy a few months back, now I'm shoveling snow for the hell of it. BTW, the Japanese don't really plow, they just literally drive over the top, no matter what.
