About the only use I can see is in training your dog to be comfortable around the noise of a shotgun going off. You can hold the dogs collar with one hand while firing your pistol with the other.

Actually there are many takes on this concept all of which are great car defense guns. Think you can grab that off your side or from the side of the seat and take a dudes head off at your side window!

Yep... short barrel, buck shot, close range... should all add up to a nice job of relocating some thief's head!

Thompson Center has single shot hunting pistols and IIRC one of their options is a 20 gauge shotgun round.

Back in the 1920s there was a manufacturer that produced a home defence pistol that was essentially a double-barreled 20 gauge, with a pistol grip. Can't remember the name of the company though.

*EDIT* thinking again on it, maybe they were both 410 gauge? Found this while I was looking around though:

Seriously? Looks like a Chinese cap gun. :panic: I wouldn't fire that thing with Ann Coultier's hand.

Any handgun that fires 20-gauge or larger shells would almost have to be built before '35, and would be be a Class III firearm ("Destructive Device") nowadays, so .410 is the best you can really do... There are quite a few .410/.45LC derringers, but I've never fired one, bet it's a real experience...

And I've fired 2-3/4" 12-ga shells one-handed with my Persuader... Not gonna win any IDPE matches with it, but it's kinda fun :)

Gas Man, you are not allowed to post anymore. I can't follow the threads when you do. I just kinda sit here and stare at your avatar for about an hour and forget what I was doing.

Yup, the Thompson Center single shot pistol only goes to .410 gauge. They do also have 45-70 and 30-30 WIN though. :D

The Judge seems like fun, but it's so limited in purpose that I can't see myself spending the money for it.
I guess it just depends on how badly you want to kill snakes or melt faces.

I finally remembered the double-barreled shotgun pistol that I was struggling to recall the name of. It's the Ithaca Autoburglar. It was a double-barreled 20 gauge, dual trigger shotgun pistol that was meant for home defence back in the 1920s/30s, but was more frequently used by criminals.

So paint your bike gunmetal blue, and add some wood inlay.

you know, that would look pretty bad ass

I figured it would. A "Woody" Ace with a dark blue frame, wood panels on the sides of the tank and some hard bags, and a bit of chrome.... and a saddle holster for a hogleg ;)

i have a saddle holster made for me by a leathersmith for my winchester 94.

I thought about a Winchester, but went Marlin .44 lever instead.

Up here police frown on guns being carried openly too.

i've gotten stopped a couple times for it, but they always let me go

I did, however, once manage to get a couple of Peel Region's finest howling their asses off by riding by on a scooter, with a compound bow strung across my back, while wearing a combat jacket.

Today I'd likely get shot for that.

Ooh, that Ithaca is tasty... it'd fit real nicely in my 'duster.

For a rifle, tho, i'd have to go with the WWII-style fork-mounted holster...

I'm tempted to get that, even if it is just a replica. :rockout:

Screw that. Those cylinders wouldn't work with anything smaller than a 12 gauge rifled slug.

Probably. It could be scaled down to spin something smaller.
I think the stated size of the 'real' Samaritan's bullets was... 20mm?

It would pulp a barn rat or shred the guts of a burglar, without going through too many walls.
