- attractive, but real
- believably intelligent and unshakable
- confident
- strong willed
- older than she looks (or at least she gives you the impression she is)

She has to be someone who could successfully fulfill the role of a leader, someone people wouldn't dare fuck with. She has to be imposing and intimidating, but not manly.

There are plenty of gorgeous actresses in Hollywood right now, many of whom are also actually quite good, but none I can think of who really peg the above criteria.

Actually that reminded me of another actress, who used to be on the same series, who I think fits your criteria almost perfectly. Debrah Farentino, who is currently playing a recurring character in the show "Eli Stone." She's just short of 50 years old, hot, and has played a number of parts where she portrayed a smart, tough woman.
