seriously. i just got a look at the new assault weapons ban for 2008. it includes a list of weapons that you are allowed to own (the winchester 94 is in there but only in side eject, as far as i know all of them since 1894 have been top eject) if you want to see if your shooting iron iis on the list, it can be found here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:H.R.6257:
the bill has 4 cosponsors at this point, all republican

So when's that violent overthrow and revolution again?
What part of "shall not be infringed" do these people not get?

they don't understand it because nobody threw in anything about personal responsibility or think of the children in there

Lever action rifles are considered assault rifles?

if they eject from the top, then appearantly they are

They may not be specifically mentioned on the current list, but seeing as lever action rifles neither have nor can they be adapted to have a high capacity magazine, I don't think they'd be banned.

regardless, the point is; the government released a list of approved guns to own. let this be a guide for all of you. buy whatever guns are not on that list

I am putting all my collecting money in swords. Sure they can ban them too but their way down the list...Sooner or later they will take away all our rights. Arms, privacy, free speach. It will all go for the sake of homeland security and someday we will give it to them willingly. No I don't wish it but it is in the cards. Gonna happen.

before i was old enough to buy guns, i used to buy swords. in fact one of my first jobs was at a sword shop that worked flea marklets and the ren faire. don't know why i'm throwing out that story but i did. if they decide to ban guns, the i will just have to change my weekly thread name to DP's large section of PVC pipe deal of the week.
