Anyone watch this? The conditions were absolutely insane. Riding was the hard part in this event who cares what the competition was doing. They had some spots 3 feet deep with water. It was nuts.

Recorded it earlier. Just got done watching a bit ago. Insane. Sucked for Reed to get down to 3 corners and have the bike die.

Man that was insane. Bad luck for Reed on the last lap... At least he still has the points lead.

I watched it for a bit, looked like a fricken blast. But the riders aren't the one gonna be cleaning bikes for a week

Those bikes are ruined, They will be cleaned up and sold, they wont be reused.

How come?

You will never get the sand and dirt out of all the moving parts. It's cheaper to remove the bolt on upgrades sell the old bike and get a new bike.

Those bikes will require the forks to be rebuilt, brakes are shot, clutches are shot, motor has a very good possibility of having dirt in the cylinder. Yes they rebuild this engines after every race, but the cylinder is likely scored and will need to be bored out (Nikasil is not cheap.. ), valves are probably bent form being over heated.. Since most of those riders are factory backed the bikes cost nothing.

Thats interesting.

If you look at that pic of Chad Reed (top pic) he is sitting there because he toasted his clutch. That never happens on a dry track. That mud fucks up your bike badly. You could here the engines bogging down from sucking in a little bit of muddy water. If I was a privateer, I never would have run that race.

Good point.

It's amazing what some of the privateer racers can do on limited funds, compared to the factory riders

Seriously... this is true is all motorsports... the fact that some of those guys are running anywhere close to factory riders, when riding with 1% of the budget, really is impressive. Often it identifies a rider who is soon going to pick up a deal/sponsors...

I guess the addage is true... 95% rider, 5% bike.

Yeah, prime example, the link OTB found about the dude who dumped the desmosedici RR right out of the dealer lot

Not to mention the fact that there are dudes at NHIS running TD laptimes 20 seconds faster than me on bikes with less than half the horsepower. Yikes...
