Protection and security training. The guy in the green shirt is a retired Broward Sheriffs Office Sergeant. He trained almost all of the police dogs in South Florida for over 20 years. Two time police dog national champion trainer. He's awesome! Name is Mike Clark...www.championdogtraining.com

Yeah...he's awesome! I HIGHLY recommend him! He really knows his shit, and he's just an all around great guy to work with.

It's mainly just work with a pinch collar and lot's of practice. I try and take Sammi out at least twice a day, even if it's just for 5 mins. She's been doing great! We've been through basic obedience, long leash, protection, and some off leash. I wish we had more time to keep training before we move.

Here's Tex...he's a rescue too. One of the luckiest dogs in the world. Alicia pulled him out of hell the day before he was about to be put down. He was a stray, found covered in oil, had mange all over, underweight....he was in bad shape.

Thanks, but I can't take any credit for him. My girlfriend got him way before we ever met. I don't know if I could've done what she did with him. Amazes me.

Great looking pups, nice to see the rescues on both of you.

I have already decided that when I settle down I would like to get maybe another Jack Russell, female if I can find one via a rescue. Then maybe another rescue dog after the other settles in. No care for breed, just wanna rescue one.

Awesome...best way to go! I'd be surprised if there isn't a Jack Russel rescue in your area.

Youre telling me... I still get sick to this day thinking about what Tex went through before I pulled him out of animal control.. :( I want to kill his first owners for letting him suffer like that..

Just curious how did any of you find your dogs at rescue? Did you just take a day when you were going to look and bring one home? Then did you have thoughts in mind or were you looking for any dog close to being put down? Obviously Alicia took on a big project when she found Tex and that is a really impressive come back!

Might still be a while however before I add to my family. I would like to get a house with a big back yard with a fence. Once I get all of that straightened out, I am off to the rescue.

I got my JRT a while ago knowing that I would be living in apartments through college and while I wanted a small dog, I wanted a very capable little dog. No purse dogs!

Anyways at 3 years of age he has settled in quite well, but I would like to add another for his company once I get settled into a real job.

And I have to add a bit of pup love after talking about the lil dude.

We just started searching all over the net. Found a couple of German Shepard rescues...one in Tampa and one in Orlando. Found a dog we liked on the Orlando rescue's site, drove up to see/meet her, took her home. Pretty simple.

Here's where we got Sammi from... http://gsrfl.com/

Here's one I just found for Jack Russels...Looks like a national rescue... http://www.russellrescue.com/

Nice little Jack Russel! I always thought they were cool little dogs.

Apollo, he was the runt of a litter of 11.... You should have seen his sire, FUCK it was a huge dog...

Anyways, I call Apollo "My LIttle Pony" cause he's about a strong as a damned horse. He's pushing 85lbs.

Venus. She's a more managable 62.

Greta 61, but we're still working on putting more weight back on her. She's 100x better than how she was given to the shelter, and when we picked her up... She's really made a marked improvement.

Ohhhhh.

If anyone was wondering. We go thru about 20 cups of dog food per day.

All good looking dogs.
My husband wants an Akita, but I have Shiba Inu now (and 2 cats). Max (my dog) is very spoiled and territorial when it comes to other animals. And the Akitas need to be on their own. Maybe some day.
