lol, just found it? It works great on BB storm OS .86

Still has some bugs, but now that I have a way to test it, I can work on it. Still got to get femmes adapted to it right.

slightly off topic, how much usable battery life do you get out of your store. I am only getting a few hours. I may call and get another battery.

By the end of the day I'm at about a quarter battery. It was better with 4.7.0.65, then .75 kinda fucked my phone all up. Everything that was supposed to be better wasn't. So far it looks like .86 has better power management than .75. I also turn off the GPS antenna when I'm not using the Garmin software. I noticed I was taking a bit of a hit if I left it on, even without the software booted up.

One more thing: where do you keep your phone during the day? Do you have a case or a holster or something like that? I had a problem about two weeks into owning the phone where my battery would die during a 12 hour shift at work. I wasn't using the phone at all, just checking the time every now and then, and I noticed the battery would be drained by about the 8 hour mark. At the time I just threw the phone in my pocket, no case or cover or anything. from sitting down, the pants would push the screen into my leg and keep clicking the screen through the night. So I bought a generic case that was marketed for iPhones and Blackberrys. The phone fit in nice and snug, but the problem got worse because it would hold the screen button down for extended periods of time. So the battery would be completely fucking dead in about 6 or 7 hours. I ended up buying a Storm specific holster that protects the screen and puts the phone into holster mode. Battery's back up to decent levels. Nowhere near the complete powerhouse of the Curve battery, but acceptable.

Are you just looking for the plastic film type thing to stick on the screen?

Or maybe a real case. I have some stretchy crap that Verizon was selling but it doesn't really protect the damn thing and if anything it makes the phone hard as hell to get out of my pocket.

My power management is fine when its locked, I can leave it locked and it last for days easy. It's when I am using that just kills the thing. Just a few hours and its gone.

Slacker works for the BB already, it's not storm specific, but it works.

I got the stretchy thing and like it, I also use their screen protectors. I would like to get a unique skin though.

For every blackberry I have had - I get the leather sleeve that it fits into FROM Blackberry. That way, it makes it go to sleep, and protects it when not in use.

The plastic screen covers are alright - but the phone condoms suck ass.

I use something very similar to this (http://shop.crackberry.com/seidio-spring-clip-holster/4A24A4889.htm) for my Storm. The screen faces in, so it's protected from random scratches and dings. When it's clipped in, the phone is automatically switched to holster mode, which is also nice. I'm not using a skin currently, but it's more because I can't find any decent skins that fit the phone right and look decent at the same time. The clip holster has been perfect for keeping the scratches off the screen and keeping the phone protected though.

Edited to add: if you're looking for a new screen protector film, look for the ones used to protect the PSP screen. They're generally larger, so you'll have to cut them down, but you can find them on buy.com and other places for 2 bucks, rather than the 9 or 10 bucks they want for the same film cut down for the Storm screen.

I usually scratch the hell out of mine too. So far my phone's screen is pretty damn clean. The rest of my phone looks like it's been ran over several times. How the screen has managed to stay virtually scratch fee, I have no clue.

Mine stay pristine for about a month and a half. Then I get careless. I put my phone in one pocket, make a mental note that it's in that pocket and that I need to throw my keys in the other pocket, grab my keys, remember I gotta put it in a different pocket, and then blank for a second while I throw my keys in with my phone. Then, ta-da, I gouge the shit out of the screen in the .25 seconds it takes for my brain to realize what's going on and pull the keys out. Hurr durr, I'm retarded.

I think it does have a thin film on it but I can't tell. It won't come off easily but I am hoping that I could get it off using a sharp edge. If there is one on there I will be very pleased. Gonna order new ones tonight.

Weird. My battery has been holding up fine so far. Pulled it off the charger at about a little after 8. It's almost 3:30 now and I'm at 70%.

You could try some of the random shit that seems to fix a Blackberry:

1. Battery pull
2. Check your file free and make sure you're not down on memory
3. Clear out your message folders and call logs

I know when the phone is down on memory it does some funky ass shit. Maybe it's eating battery life too. It's a long shot, but shit, you're getting killed on battery life from somewhere.

I'm happy with the Symbian OS on my Nokia E71... havent had any issues with it at all... and I get atleast 10 hrs of battery life with wifi and bluetooth connected.... I use it for my 'personal' web surfing while i'm at work. without the wifi, 3g, and BT constantly going. i can go a few days without charging

Wiped the phone, reinstalled .86 OS, still killing the battery lost 10% in one hour just sitting on the desk in lock mode. Wiped the phone again, back to .75 OS. Hopefully battery life is back to normal, if not off to the Verizon store I go tomorrow to demand a new battery.

.86 isn't an official release yet. There's a leak of it out on crackberry.com plus instructions on how to install it. It's pretty straight forward. .75 is the latest official release.

Even though the instructions are pretty easy, I wouldn't recommend it unless you feel capable on updating to a nonauthorized OS. This does void your warranty and insurance if you brick your phone.

seems a lot of people are having problems with it on .86 Seems to be leaking memory and repeatedly trying to update itself when it's not suppose to. Weatherbug apparently knows about it and is working on updating it.
