Looking to own a small ubb board, but the cheap ass me doesn't want to pay for anything, like bandwith or the actual sofware. Anyone know of a good place to get the software, I have a websit already.

what are you wanting it for, what are you needing the board to do? just basic stuff or is it going to be heavy file trading?

Are you wanting to host it on your site and be dependent on your bandwidth or you wanting a free host?

Host it on my site, I expect like 50 visitors a day, with just a handful of regular posters.

I am looking for the software for free

I would probably try Simple Machines Forums or SMF to start with. phpBB is another option. Invision power board is decent as well. Nothing really compares to vB though, but it's not free.

I messed around with phpBB a while back and it isn't too bad. Plus it's free; your primary criteria. you need database capabilities.

http://www.phpbb.com/

Trying to build it, sell it to Verticalscope, and retire huh?

If you think Rob and Nancy retired on that sale, you're on crack.

...Although, I admit; the thought of having others build a site for you, and stock it with content, so you turn around and boost it for big bucks is a consideration I too have shared.

I'm definitely not on crack, but others may be.
