During our morning meeting today we were told to stay away from "spice".

I thought, at first, he was talking about Posh (is she in town? why do I have to stay away from her?).

Then I wondered why I needed to stay away from seasoned salt. But no, I was wrong on both counts.

Apparently spice is an incense whose smoke contains hallucinogens...go figure!

This isn't an illegal drug, yet, but the military can bust you for it...

Am I the only one who has never heard of this??? (Shall I crawl back out from under the rock I've been living under??? :lol:)

One of our guys bought some while deployed over the internet and smoked it, supposedly it was called golden spice. He smoked it while deployed on duty on a convoy. The convoy commander smelled it and thought it was marijuana, so apparently it smells the same. The guy popped for weed on a piss test and now he's on his way out. Smoke it at your own risk.

I'm not a big reader, but I liked Lynch's "Dune" for the same reasons Corey does, and the SciFi miniseries version because it was very well done.

I can say this.... I saw the movie when it came out in the 80's and loved it. I then read the book and subsequent sequels. The books blow the movies away. The original movie diverged from the book in a lot of places, while the mini-series were much more accurate. All in all, a great sci-fi franchise.

Weekly catch up at the Navy "C" school where I teach. There are also a lot of kids right out of boot camp at this location (the building is 1 million square feet). Some of the instructors do barracks inspections and were asked to look for this "new" drug.
