View Full Version : My GSXR was stolen last night...
Riceaholic

It was in the back of my pickup which was backed up about an inch from my garage door. (so the tailgate couldn't be opened to get the bike out.)
The fuckboys broke out the sliding rear window and knocked the truck out of gear and rolled it out into the middle of the street to get the bike out.
There's ALOT of aftermarket stuff to part off it so I'm asking you guys to keep an eye out for anything shady...
It's an '01 GSXR 1000 black and silver stock bodywork.
Ohlins forks
Fox rear shock with a bright orange spring
CRG shorty gold levers
Marvic magnesium 5 spoke wheels
wave rotors with carbon carriers
Double Bubble screen
Libertek LED undertail
Yosh dual outlet titanium full system
Scotts Rotary steering dampner
HID Headlight kit
I know it'll probably be in parts by tomorrow so I'm asking everybody to please keep an eye out for any of these parts on craigslist or wherever to see if I can possibly get on the trail of these fucking scumbags.

will keep an eye out for it. why did you have it in your truck instead of locked away in a garage somewhere?

My garage doesn't lock so I keep my truck backed up against it so it won't open. Instead of breaking into my truck and moving it to get into my garage, they actually had to unload the bike too.
Honestly, even the cops were amazed at the risk the douchbags took to get the bike. I live a block from the Sheriff's station and had lights and a TV on that you could see through the window.

This made my stomach hurt to read. Not only did they steal your bike, but also they messed with your truck. Around these parts, messing with a man's truck is a good reason for the death penalty. Sorry to hear about your loss, Riceaholic.
sorry to hear man. in my travels on the intrawebs i'll keep an eye out since i am in the market for a bike right now, i've been looking all over

If you got a lot of money dumped on a bike but cant take the precaution to fix up the garage door so it can properly lock then you kinda set yourself up for this kind of thing to happen. :idk:

I understand where you are coming from. I also suspect you don't live in a 100 year old house. It's not quite as easy as "fixing up" a garage door.
I didn't leave it in my driveway with the keys in the ignition.

It was probably some scumbag stunter trying to fix up the piece of shit bike he's got.

I'm sorry about your bike bro! I hope that you had insurance. BTW if you post some pics of your garage,I can tell you how to fix it,that's what I do for money. I know it's a little late now but maybe as a precaution for the next bike?

I see that, and I know you used your truck to barricade the thing in, but maybe throwing in a latch on the inside with a big lock, or something like that... I mean you never know, Ive heard crazy stories of what thieves do when they want to get their hands on a bike, so you cant never be 100% sure.
either way it sucks when this type of shit happens.

The fact is... no matter WHAT you do. if a thief wants your shit... they'll get it. all you can do is make it tough for them.
I'd have done the same thing... I'd have felt comfortable that with my bike basicly blocked in the back of my truck it'd be safe. ACTUALLY it's what I've done countless times... and what I've planned on doing when I get to Mississippi as apparently people in Mississippi don't believe in those new fangled things called garages.
anyways. Sucks bro... hope you can find your shit before it's stripped!

Ground Anchor and a good solid chain will deter a lot of thieves.. Thats what all the British bike mags always recommend, and bike theft over there is huge.

I had a friend in hollywood, fl do that, rebar into concrete with a solid chain... that didn't stop them.
Also, Rocket had his bike taken while he had a chain through the rear wheel. The assholes took the wheel off and stole the rest of the bike.
Either way, a garage isn't fool-proof either. If someone knows what's in it, they can just wait until you leave and break-in. You're only advantage is the bike is out of view.

Now maybe you will repair your garage and invest in a chain. I know that NOTHING will stop a professional thief but these guys were obviously just some punks that observed your habit of leaving your bike on the back of your truck and made a grab for it. You don't secure your bike/valuables against professional thieves, you secure them against amateurs! If you would have had your bike properly locked up in the garage with the steering locked and properly chained,I doubt that these guys could have stolen it. I'm glad that you recovered your bike. If you need any advice on your garage, let me know.
glad you recovered it in 1 piece. what did you end up doing to the person riding it?
now lock your shit up! and I mean this in the kindest way possible

Sorry for the delay. Haven't been home much. The dude they caught with the bike is looking at grand theft. I guess they aren't gonna nab him on the B and E on my truck because he's claiming he bought the bike from a black guy named Jackson. (It was a white dude that was on it and the truck was wiped clean of prints.) They key was locked in my truck. That's why there was no ignition damage.
When I went to pick it up the cop had the kid in the car. When he asked me what I wanted to do, I told him I'd drop all charges if he drove around the block for a minute and let me beat the piss out of him. He actually thought about it for a minute too. The dude told the cops he wasn't aware something was shady despite the fact that he bought a heavily modded bike for 2 grand with no title, plate or registration.
As far as security goes, I have about ten feet of tugboat chain running through my GSXR and my V-Max that's chained to a 400 pound steel garage sink that's bolted to the floor for now. And my windowless truck is still parked in front of the door. Thanks to everyone that was keeping a look out while it was gone...

Trust me...I know. Theft is getting real bad around Tampa Bay. Three people were home at my house and they still managed to pull this one off. Pretty bold considering I sleep with my 12 gauge next to my bed.
