actually it's just A. I'm in korea. cause tech I still own my ZZR... but it's in North Dakota.
but yeah... not much to do here in Korea when you don't have your own transportation and you have to deal with curfew... so many places I could have gone to if I could leave at like 4am (hour before curfew ends) or get back after midnight. or if they'd actually let me use my leave.
but it's cool... 20 days (give or take) and I'll be in AK!

well my internet crapped out... all I was getting was local only... so I unplugged the Cat5 cable and plugged it into my laptop... boom... internet.
fuck'n weird thing was I didn't change anything... so I figured I'll restore to a point earlier that morning... it started then said back up was corrupt... so I went to one the day before... corrupt... tried 7 different restore points... all corrupt...
so then I said fuck it... I'll figure it out... but no. the restore had gone far enough to not allow windows to boot. YAY!
so back to out of the box specs it is...
at least my pics were all on my external hd... I'd be throw'n shit if they were gone

I've been looking at some 1TB's on tigerdirect, but I'm not familiar enough with them to know which brands (besides WD and Seagate) are good. Plus, I need something that would be simple to use, like maybe just copy/paste. I don't know shit about backing up my computer. :idk: The only thing I care to back up is music, pictures, and maybe a few movies I have.

AF is a 4 yr contract?
I reupped in 05, had a choice of 1, 3, or 6 yrs. I took 6, so I'm in till 2011.
I plan on retiring with my 20 too. Hope to get a full time gig, and retire from that as well. 2 checks from the gov't :dthumb:

Don't know about reg army, but the NDNG is good. In fact they are talking about cutting enlistment bonuses, and possibly reup bonuses. They have enough people (130% strength) and are facing budget cuts.

yes and no.
In Conus, contacts or lasik (if taken care of properly) is probably a better deal.
In country, they prefer glasses as they can be quickly removed when the gas mask is needed. Depending on the agent used, contacts can melt to your eyes, and lasik makes your eyes far more sensitive.
That's what I get from their reasoning anyway.

when the "gas" call is given here are the steps.
Close eyes and hold your breath.
remove glasses and kevlar/hat
put on/seal mask
replace kevlar, store hat and signal to other soldiers "gas"
Continue to get into MOPP gear if necessary.

have you tried the NEW masks? we have them in Korea... you no longer ware the inserts they go in the mask.... the thing that sucks is you HAVE to wear glasses so you have to find a place to put them when the new mask is on. the nice thing is the insert doesn't touch your face so it doesn't cause head aches and stays put.... also vision is MUCH better.
I wear my contacts every exercise.... the old masks never had a problem... the new ones have 100x the air flow over the eyes... so my contacts dry out... but as long as I blink frequently I'm good...

Lasik scars your eye lid. The fear is that it can be knocked loose during combat situations due to the surrounding scar tissue being weaker or healed improperly.
Up here, they allow us to do it. We must use our own vacation time for healing up. If any complications arise, it is our own fault and the military is not responsible.

interesting... AFAIK the airforce is responsible for any issues that arrise because of a fucked up surgery. now if I don't take care of my eyes in the post op care then yeah I'm liable... but if scar tissue causes the problem... I'm not.
as far as you taking vacation time to heal... that's bs... (if your in the military... which I forget if your military or dod civilian) they offer convalescence leave... that CAN be rejected by your commander... but he would be royally fucked if you had issues and there was no real reason, ie mission or manning, for you not to take a couple days off.

the Military does both PRK and Lasik... and I know of several fighter pilots that have had it done... I don't know which one... as I was told by our Optometry tech (talked to him about eye surgery during the exercise last week) that they do both... depending on what the doc says is best for your eye... that's the surgery you get

We're not "authorized" to do it. It's on our own time. We pay for it out of pocket. They have absolutely nothing to do with it.
We don't get sick leave for it. We probably could be granted special leave. But, you can get granted that for a family reunion if you try hard enough.

Further... do I really want to trust my eyesight to a military doc?

just talked to them... the FIRST checkup has to happen at the place you had the surgery. the others happen at your base... BUT YOUR BASE HAS TO AGREE to do the checkups prior to the surgery.
there's a checkup imediatly after... then two weeks, one months, two months, six months, one year... and that's it I think.
and as for trusting... them... I do... I'm gonna have it done when I get to Keesler. :idk:
to each their own... well worth it to me.
oh and yeah Colorado is much better than MS... but you'd save your Perdiem usually around $100 a day... by stay'n with me... and you'd have transportation... but up to you.

I'm pretty sure you should be able to find a nice Korean girl who speaks just enough english for you to lure her into a dark alley and smash her in the head with a brick. Don't be a fag.

Jucy girls are the girls in the bar that hang on ya and try to get you to buy them drinks... your drink will be like 3000won (1us=1.30won)... theirs are like the strip club drinks in the us... tiny glasses full of ice for 10000won
the girls are usually human traffic... and are forced to work or harm will come to them or their families.
10. :panic:
they make sure to tell us as an US military member... it's still 18. some sort of agreement they have with the ROK (Republic of Korea)

1000 won is equal to $1... so it's 1.3 won is less than a penny... like 1/10th of a penny.
price depends... you talk'n about beer? I have no idea... don't drink the stuff... Dlit could tell ya...
Liquor... a decent sized redbull and vodka is about 4000won... a Pint of a drink they call White Dog, soju, some Japanese liquor, and sprite, is 7000won... but it's fuck'n huge... the catch is it's very DRY... so it makes you thirsty... and will fuck you up

I stopped drink'n here though because a night of drink'n for me was about 70-100 on friday night... and I'd sleep till monday

just talked to them... the FIRST checkup has to happen at the place you had the surgery. the others happen at your base...
First, you forget the diff between Active Duty and AGR.
I would have to be put on DTS orders to recieve travel/per diem. Not going to happen for a voluntary surgery.
Second. I don't have a "base" I'm on TriCare Remote, meaning I use local civilian hospitals. Don't know if that would work or not. :idk:
And most places say you have to get a checkup every year or they won't be responsible for anything if you miss that checkup.
As for transpo, I'd get a rental. It's reimbursable :D
Lastly... HOLY SHIT where are you going to get $100/day in per diem!?!?!
The MOST I've ever gotten was $48/day. (Maybe because I already get BAS/BAH)
Anyway, it's something I'll have to figure when I get back.

well every AGR person I've dealt with went through the same process as the active duty... NOTHING was different. if you need different orders then yeah that would be out of my "view" of the situation.
Second you're base would be the base that refered you to the surgery site. if you don't have a base near you, you're considered Tricare Prime Remote. in that case you'd PROBABLY have to go to the nearest base, have the optometry department do the workup as the military requires different things than the civilian side does (even branch to branch it's different). OR you'll have to get your checkups at the local optometrist that you get your referral from.
as for transportation... you may not be allowed it. it's not always included on the orders... in fact... less than half of all the Aerovac's I did were authorized a rental... that everything not just the optical surgery cases.
Perdiem is higher in cities... Seattle(McChord AFB) is like $120... Colorado Springs (Air Force Academy) is like $110... Vacavile CA (Travis AFB) is like $110... I think San Antonio(Lackland AFB) is $100... Biloxi is probably less... but I'd guess it's over $70.
honestly not try'n to push it... just wanna make sure you really know what's involved... it's not as difficult as you seem to think...
Like I said... I did this for Army, Air Force, and a few Navy... Active, Guard, Reserve, and AGR.:dthumb:

It was $2.50 for a huge beer. I'd go out with $40 (they take American and give you back won for change) and come back utterly shitfaced and still have change to stuff my face with chicken on a stick or Miss Kim burgers.
