The focus isn't a terrible car necessarily, especially if you got it for cheap. American car resale is so shitty you can get some good deals. But if you want an economy car, you gotta go far east.

When I almost bought one...the joke going around was that "Torque was on national backorder". It's the same way with my R6. Now you wind it up and it comes alive...same with my experience with athe S2000.

I filled both bikes up lastnight @ $3.44 a gallon for premium.

Stock ? Humm...that surprises me...awesome little car but torque is almost nonexistant imho.

When I almost bought one...the joke going around was that "Torque was on national backorder". It's the same way with my R6. Now you wind it up and it comes alive...same with my experience with athe S2000.

Just to be clear...I do like the car...looks good...handles well and it will move...you just have to get into the upper rpm range.

Yeah, stock.. A lot of ppl say "OMG theres no torque" but, then you realize the 6 speed is really close ratio, so your never really below 4k driving around town.. And you still get high 20 mpg.. :idk: I like.

My mom lives in So. lake Tahoe, Cali.
The gas their is $3.70 a gallon for reg.

Currently the cheap(er) gas stations are up to $3.69 for regular.

Still hard for me to complain. :idk:

You'd be better off if it ran on douchebag, cause you have an unlimited supply of that.

God knows there will never be a shortage of douchebags in this country!

No joke. It's not the politicians who determine the gas prices. Move to somewhere with a lower cost of living. Gas here is 2.80 a gallon.

Really it has very little to do with fuel at all... it's the price of the dollar that's taking a shit, not some massive rise in oil cost.

All in perspective:

I paid 3.95 for deisel today.

Talked to a friend of mine lives outside of London...he is paying in the neighborhood of $8.00 US/Gallon.....and the spot price for oil is the same for everybody...the difference is a. the value of the dollar vs euro and b. the amount of taxes that they pay for each gallon vs the piddling amount (relatively ) that we pay in taxes per gallon.

This chart http://www.eia.doe.gov/emeu/international/gas1.html shows the historical differences we have paid...that is why we continue to drive bigger cars, trucks and SUV's than the the rest of the world.....tack on 3-4 more bucks in taxes per gallon in this country and you'll see a massive shift towards public transportation and these kinds of POS

http://www.autounleashed.com/images/opel_agila.jpg

In most European countries, there is a per litre exicise tax, and then a percentage VAT (value added tax) which is added on each time the fuel is handled (from the importer of the oil, to the refiner, to the jobber or distributor, and then from the gas station of, 17.5%....so each time, you are taxed on not just the price of the fuel, but on the previous taxes added on....which adds up to about 188%, or about $4.50-5.00 over the original price of the fuel; compared to, depending on which state you live in; somewhere about $.55-.68 per gallon in this country.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline_tax

Like I said....all a question of perspective.

if i have to drive pieces of shit like that please shoot me..

i talk to people in europe all the time and they say its not a big deal to pay those gas prices.. they don't drive as much as we do.. most towns everything is in walking distance, etc. plus some of that goes to like nationalized health care, etc.

yeah VAT is a bitch.. 21% is what i pay on anything i ship from europe to the united states.. a good way to get around it is to ship from germany to mexico - there is not VAT because they have an agreement.. of course though then you have to pay duties into the U.S. but depending on what you are shipping it can save you some serious money to go that route..
