The Ultimate Brownie is my absolute favorite brownie. It is tall like a cakey-brownie, but is dense like a fudgy-brownie. I'm sure it will be one of your favorite brownie recipes too.

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:
8- 1 ounce squares of unsweetened chocolate
1 cup butter
5 eggs
3 cups sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted
1 - Heart filled with the love of the Lord

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 13 pan.
Melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat; set aside. In a mixer, beat eggs, sugar and vanilla at high speed for 10 minutes**. Blend in chocolate mixture, flour and salt until just mixed. Stir in the nuts. Pour into prepared pan.

Bake for 35-40 minutes. (Don't overbake.) Cool and frost if desired, but that is not necessary.

** It's not required, but this is when it's very nice to own a stand mixer.

Now come on. You can't leave out a major ingredient like that! I'm more concerned if the heart should be rare or medium-well before serving.

Well I'm concerned about the fat content -- I know for a lot of recipes, you can sub applesauce for your oil or eggs and maintain the moisture. Would that work for these brownies? And just what is the heart:applesauce exchange ratio?

That's a toughie. I don't think that the consistency would really be the same. Maybe if you used the heart of someone who did a lot of cardio?

I'm not in for substituting ingredients and I've got a source of hearts full of love for the Lord. They don't happen to be filled with much love for humankind though, so it's pretty much a win-win.

OH!! Okay, that sounds perfect then. Since you've got the source, could you stick a few of them on a treadmill for a while, and then just send them my way once they're low-fat?

Any tips for getting the heart out of the chest cavity? Do I just crack the sternum with a hammer and pry apart the rib cage with a crow bar, or would I be better off with a dremel tool or something?

Metric is easy; all multiples of ten. Unfortunately God's love is measured in cubic cubits, so we're all fucked.
