So i bought my Aquaracer friday night. Had it sized but thought it was still a tad bit tight. I return to the AD saturday morning and the owner himself helps me. He goes in the back and returns with my extra links in a small clear zip lock bag that i never look at and just put in my pocket.
I go home empty my pockets on the kitchen counter, watch tv for an hour, then my brother calls so i'm walking by the counter on the phone and i decide to pick up the bag of links and put them away with the box.
I walk by our sliding glass doors and the sunlight shinning thru flickers on something in the bag,i hold the bag up thingking it was the stainless links and see some small round things in the bottom of the bag with the links.
I hold up the bag to the light close to my face and see that the bottom of the bag is FULL OF DIAMONDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told my brother in law i would call him back and i start freaking out.
I hand the bag to my wife and she (we didnt wnat to open it) counts SIXTEEN 0.5-0.10 sized small diamonds in the bag.
I call the AD and ask for the owner and he is stunned.
I take the bag back and he and most of the other staff are gathered around.
What happend was they were woking on retool for a rolex with diamond bezel and he grabbed a small bag off the work area not paying attention.
Just so happens it had some of the diamonds in the bag.
He thanks me for my honesty as does everyone there and tells one of the staff to "go get a girft cirtificate for me to fill out". I tell himno thanks on the GC becuse i was just doing the right thing.

I've always like the SeaDweller / Submariners but they feel too bulky for me.
I will pick one up eventually but it will have a blue dial and bezel (not two tone though).

The Sea Dweller and the Submariners are not big as you can see in my photos. Actually lots of people complained because they are not "big" enough. These are the same fuckwads that buy Ferraris/Lambos and cruise the boulevards with them instead of hauling ass on the tracks. But I digress. The Sea Dweller only comes in one flavor: black & stainless steel. The Submariner can be dressed up with gold and shit like that. The new Sea Dweller which is called the Deep Sea is massive in both girth and width, and is rated to 12,800-ft depth.

Nicely done. You might not have diamonds in your pocket any more, but for them to be small might not have helped you that much, and it would have really hurt the business you frequent, so good going taking them back. And I guarantee they won't forget you.

You haven't seen my wrists.
A 40mm is big on me.
IIRC the Sub is also only available in black if you want stainless. To get a blue dial you have to go with the gold or the two tone. They did have a green edition avaialble but I think it was an anniversary deal.
I don't care about it being 100% OEM. When I get around to it, it will be stainless with a blue dial and bezel installed after the fact.
Remember the other thread about guilt and motorcycle money? Reason #1 for the Seiko I currently wear.

You're too kind. The collection ain't all that shit hot. The Sea Dweller and the Seamaster are good watches but the two Seikos and the shitty Tag aren't all that great.

Omega...have you ever owned a Pulsar? Collecting "junky" watches was one of my goofy hobbies when I was in the service...

I would have returned the diamonds also, but Im not gonna lie, I would have accepted the gift certificate. Im all for doing the right thing, but I have a hard time turning down free stuff that gets offered to me (unless its stupi and/or worthless).

I don't see anything wrong with that. Not that anyone deserves any special treatment to do the right thing, but if someone offered me something as a token of gratitude I'd take it...
That being said, keeping the diamonds would be about worthless anyway... I mean, where the fuck are you going to sell diamonds? Could you imagine the look on their faces if you walked up in Kay Jewelers and asked the chick behind the counter how much you could get for 'deez rocks'?
"Hello police? Yeah, I got something for you..."

Glad to see someone else is a collector of Seiko automatics.
They aren't very expensive to purchase, but they have a great feel and balance and are made well.
The 1970-1985 is the golden era of automatic watches.
I'm glad to see the re-birth of the Tag automatics.

The automatics are making quite of a comeback right now. I think that even Swiss Army is coming out with automatics. Doxa is alive and well after its return to the market a few years back. I can't quite decide if I want to get the new 5000T or the classic 1000T.
I've got a Maratec Zulu dive strap coming for the Rolex. I told the chick at the watch store that I'll need her to take the bracelet off for me when the nylon band come. The look on her face was unforgettable.
"You going to take these watches diving?"
"Uh, my Omega had been hitting the surf with me all these years and yes the Rolex will go diving with me as well. You DO know that it's called the Sea Dweller, right?"

My daily watch is a Seamaster, I have the smaller dial, which looks like the one you have there.
After watching Castaway, I decided I'd like to have an automatic watch, not that I'll every be lost at sea, But if I was.........

I have a low-end Seiko right now, when I care to wear a watch it fits the bill.
If money weren't as much of an issue, I'd opt for something like this http://www.raymondweil.us/Media/RWUSA/Timepieces/Product/2710-st-20001/2710-st-20001_lv.jpg

It'll be interesting to see how many automatics make a comeback now that ETA has put the nix on selling movements to marques outside of the Swatch company.
I'm glad to see companies producing more watches in house of their own design. It's like Aprilia moving from Rotax to in-house designs.
I actually look to for vintage automatics from 1969-1980.

Although, I really want an Omega Mark V with the Caliber 1045 (Lemania 5100) movement.
Very rare produced for a few years in German Speaking countries only.
