Question for you phone gurus... can you unlock the wifi feature on any of these phones so you can avoid using your carriers internet?

I like it, but I also really like Verizon... Honestly, I drool over the Blackberry Pearl... That's the phone I really want...

The Blackberry 8120 Pearl is wifi capable - I'm now on the lowest minute plan available because most of my calls are wifi. It's brilliant.

Hmmm... How does that work?

I might have to switch to T-Mobile this next go around... WiFi is something I think I would really use and Verizon phones don't have it from what I've seen...

I have T-Mobile and a number of their phones make calls over WiFi as well. It costs $10 /month and you have unlimited calling from home or anywhere with WiFi.

samsung omnia is the only one i can think of on verizon thats not crippled

Nah, it's called T-Mobile at home and it's just calling. Although,I'm not sure how the phones work if you don't have any data plan... I'd imagine they make you carry some kind of data package. On the positive side,I believe that I could ad data for about $5 a month... Anyway,here's a link,
