I started playing in third grade. When I was younger, we made fun of anyone who tried to act to get the foul called. But the acting seemed to get more and more prevalent as we got older. By the time I was playing in high school, some of the guys considered it part of the game. Still, it was mostly a problem with the strikers (offense). Once I was out of high school and playing some rec leagues, it seemed like anyone who wasn't a first or second year player was a fucking prima donna bucking for an Oscar.
I was 13 when I watched the World Cup for the first time, and holy shit that was an eye opener. And now it seems like whenever I'm watching a pro game, anybody who hits the ground is clutching their leg and rocking. I'm waiting for the keepers to start that shit whenever they dive for a save.
Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to outplay the opposing team to win at a competitive sport, not con the refs into winning it for me.

I concur.
As a kid it seemed that the European and S. American players were the actors but like you said, as I got older it became more and more prevalent.
I feel like the ref's sharesome blame too. If they would make the call or pull a card unless they saw the foul with thier own eyes, I think a lot of this would die down.
P. S. It is not just soccer. Watch an NBA game lately?

I'd rather watch football, but I'd rather play soccer. Unless you're the QB, there's more of a chance of actually handling the ball playing soccer. Guarding gets boring for me.

In the NBA there are some floppers, European players are usually the worst starting with Vlade Divac, but I dont remember ever seeing someone pretend they were hurt in order to get a call.

Not sure I draw any distinction between a flop and a draminjury. All pretty shady.

I said that players flop, which is the case in the second video but Chris Paul got right back up and never once pretended he was hurt.
The first video is Paul Pierce in the Finals last year and if you watch the full play you can see that he was not flopping in order to get a call. I dont know why he went down but it makes absolutely no sense for the best player on a team to take himself out of a championship game for several minutes for no reason. Personally I think he landed wrong and it hurt but when the trainers came over it got out of hand.

The soccer drama queens only pretend they're hurt until they get the call, the floppers only flop until they get the call. Either way they're trying to scam the ref instead of playing the game.

what kills me is that flopping is supposed to be illegal and that the one who is flopping is supposed to get the red card and ejected and i agree that if the ref didn't see it then it didn't happen. as far as the players flopping though, i've heard that they actually train the players at a young age that if they are touched to go down and roll around like they were shot.
fifa should just tell the refs that they or the one of the linesman needs to see the foul occur, if they don't then it didn't happen and play on!

ok, if you play any variety of game involving balls and you're male, you're a homo. plain and simple.
soccer, football, baseball, basketball, they all suck. WSBK or MotoGP are much more masculine sports.

That is pretty manly. If you'd downed a side of bacon while you were at it we could have called a trifecta and ended the debate right now.

If I'd had a stove in my car, you can bet I would have done that. if I'd had an rv instead of a car I woulda spent the gym class getting laid.

So what happens if said sport gets played with a puck? No hugging or faking there. Only real knocked out teeth and bloodied noses.
This reminds me of a robin williams bit. Its about soccer football. The hockey part is funny.... but if you dont wanna watch it all 1:12 is what were talking about.
