I pay like $75 a year for just liability

AND I SWEAR i just called a girl i know who works at my insurance company(her dad owns it) and asked her just to see how much full coverage would be, she calls back and says she checked it twice and had never saw one that high!

I'm 35, driving for 19 years, no points on my license or insurance and it was gonna be...............wait for it......no shit.................

$5,000 a year, and i aint even lying

Damn.....that's a little steep. I actually was going to post this up later this evening, but you beat me to it. :D

I pay around $145 a year through GMAC. What company do most of you use, and or, who do you reccommend?

$317 for just liability. I think I could get $484 or 584 for full coverage, I forget the number she gave me. That's with nationwide, and there's not much traffic or anything here.

5000! they fucked up... maybe they listed your bike as a 1,000,000cc and not 1,000 :lol:

seriously though... there's now way they'd really charge that... no one in their right mind would pay that!

I will pay 600 a year for full coverage on my Truck and Bike, when i get the 600rr... right now though it's more like $450 or so... with my ZZR and Truck full coverage.

There are several insurance companies - mine included - that do not want to insure motorcycles. But they do. At an inflated rate.

ahh yeah State Farm as far as I know will only insure a bike if you have auto or home owners with them...

i have liability at $221 per year. If I had the $$ for comp I could simply save it for 2-3 years and buy a bike. :idk:

Not true. I have a State Farm policy with just my motorcycles. Never filed a claim with them, so maybe I'd have problems at that time. But I've had them since 2004 when I found an agent that would write just a MC policy. We have Erie for car and renters insurance - they stopped insurance sportbikes.

As stated in another thread:

$19 for my bike
$30 for Erik's

Full coverage on both.

Could the $5000 a year be because the bike is most likely to get stolen in your area? How about your credit rating? They factor that into the rates along with your driving record.

Just got my statement in the mail
For BOTH the SV and the Buell is... $382 for the YEAR

That's $15.91/month/bike. :rockout:

And I got a quote on some bigger bikes before I bought the Buell

Busa = $4400/year
GSXR1K = $3200
GSXR750 = $2300

:panic:

interesting... when I asked cause at one point I was considering selling my truck they told me I had to have a car or truck on it to keep my policy as they didn't insure bikes by themselves... :idk: maybe it's per state

well she said last year, two brothers bought a new R1 and a new R6, both had only made one insurance payment when both were stolen at bike week

I pay 2k a year for my 2 cars and my old ninja. The ninja actually gives me a $50 a year discount, the insurance is $125 and the discount is $175. I don't even have the bike any more but it pays to keep it on the insurance for the discount. My CBR is $550 for full coverage.

... maybe it's per state

No, it has to be per agent/area. I was told to check SF by everyone, but that I would have to take everything. One day I got a flier in the mail for the agent in Wadsworth (versus Wooster, which is closer and where my friends go). So I called and they said I could take just my mc. So I switched. I made sure all the paperwork went through before canceling my other policy.

My husband couldn't believe it, so he called the Wooster agents and they said you have to take everything. We asked the Wadsworth agent and she said it was the underwriters choice. :shrug:

At any rate, I've been with SF since 2004 and just motorcycle policy.

They insure just bikes...but its better if you have your car with them..or your home...or renters insurance.

I pay 550 a year for full coverage.

Not necessarily. They can't come close to matching the rates we pay with Erie on the cars and renters insurance, so for us it's cheaper the way we are right now.

State Farm MUST be the way to go, had a buddy that had them, totalled his 04 R6, they paid for it, then he bought an 07 GSXR 750 and his insurance went DOWN! he totalled it too , i think it finally went up some after that:idk::whistle:

I can't explain why it went down, but I do know that SF rates are based off the cc of the motorcycle rather than if it is a Ninja, GSXR, Rebel, etc like Progressive does. Erie, when they insured all bikes based theirs off the retail price of the bike. They still might, but they will not insure sportbikes and are pretty high on others. Of course, there are other factors that influence the rate too - credit score, etc.

I think it's best to check around and try different agents. Just because one says no, the other might. And like I said before, I've not a filed a claim so maybe at that point I'd have a hard time but who knows, maybe not.

I've called them twice...and each time they tell me I must have car or homeowners with them to insure a MC.

Yep. Which sucked when I totalled my last ride. I kept insurance on a totalled car for 3 months before I got another one just so they wouldn't drop the insurance on my bike.

95/yr. I'm with Progressive, 50/100 liability+theft with either 250 or 500 deductible.

Cage is with State Farm.

I haven't quoted full coverage on the SV since I bought it 6 yrs ago, but then it was ~1000/yr when I paid less than 3k for the bike

Oh, and nothing currently on my driving record *knock on wood*

Full coverage on the Duc, liability only on the other three (KTM LC4, DR650 and an old relic Italian POS) costs me slightly less than $400 a year through Allstate. It actually DROPPED when I added the DR last summer, because of the multiple vehicle discount. My cars and house are also with them, so that may be a factor.

That's probably the best description of a Norton I've ever heard, (I had a '74).

$408/yr with State Farm, full coverage, no other vehicles. It was significantly more when there was a Busa on the policy, I think that alone cost me at least $130 a month...
