What would be considered normal operating temps on a 929? Reason I ask, I have never had a bike with a temp guage before now, and I am just curious as to what the temp range should be. I do have the FSM on my computer, but that thing is hard to search through in .pdf form. :sorry:

My guess... around 190-200

My SV runs around 180 open highway up to 210 on a hot day in town.

My 1125 runs around 200 all the time.

since those are twins, ill toss in my 2cents for reference

my 750 runs 165-170 open highway, 185-190 if i hit a long light in traffic on a hot day. rarely see 200+

dave would have the best answer, since i believe he's got one

That's interesting. From my memory, I have seen it up to around 210 or maybe a little more in heavy traffic and I was kind of starting to worry about it being that high. I never heard any pinging at all (not even sure if I could on this engine or not) and the fan was on for sure. Hopefully Ed will post up on this one. (I'm not sure who he is yet, but I do appreciate any and all help on this.)

mines a 954 but it oughtta be about the same. cold days and highways im at around 180-190, warmer and slower 210-230 is fine but not much over. i think my fan starts up in the same place as derfs, around 215. i wont even go over 45 unless its past 160

I dont think I've ever seen anything over 220. The bike will continue to warm up with the fan until it hits about 220 then it levels off

170-210 is normal
fan on at 215/216
temp light at 229

Put in cyclelogic engine ice and it will run 20* cooler and resist the higher temps for longer.

My fans come on at 170...
That is on the Buell... and yes, there are 2 of them, and they are loud as hell.

SV comes on around 215 IIRC

Got in a little seat time this afternoon. I stopped in at Yamerhaw's house and left the bike idling for like....15 minutes and I watched it while it was running and it never got over 222 and the fan would kill it back down to like ??? 203 or something like that. May have been less now that I think of it, but either way, sounds like it's in the correct range and all is good. ;)

Yeah, you are fine. Damage won't occur until 300+ degrees. Really, only older HD air cooled bikes sitting in Daytona like traffic are at risk of melting a motor.
