Anyone here drag their bike? I'm just curious, as this is very popular in my kneck of the woods. I haven't had the chance to run the 929 but I do have a few slips on the Can-a-tuna and I can't find any from my old Radian.

I didn't think it was too bad for a '93 model bike, and my buddies '04 GSX-R 600 only ran like a 7.9-8.1 :dthumb:

I'm talking straight street rides on the strip. I would also be interested in seeing slips on pure drag bikes too. Like I said, we don't have a whole lot to do around here, hence the draggin' on Thursday nights. :D

You calling me a street hooligan?? :panic: :ps: Really though, is it bad to drag your street ride? I don't make a habit of it, but I have done so quite a few times. :idk:

um how about a little 350cc Yamaha. Not really a street bike and a long time ago, but what the hell. Not the quickest pass it ever made, but I could still find the paper.

Was that by any chance on an RD?? I'd give my left nut for one of those in good shape. My dad had one back in the day and that SOB was fast as hell......to about 100.

This is like the one that dad had. He said that thing sucked to hold on to because of the seat. :D
Check out this shit!

It started out like that. Yes, it was an RD350. They are neat little bikes. I've had a slew of them from the R5 to the RD400, but most were the RD350. They really rail with a few mods. When I got through Drag Racing I took the same engine, built a Road Race chassis and used it for a track tool for 3+ years. It is really fun to put it on newer sport bikes with a 30 year old 350...

you dragged an RD350? No shit, a buddy of mine used to drag an RD350 back in the day.
EDIT: Just looked it up, he had that thing do a friggin 11.08 at 118 mph! But it was hardly an RD anymore. Set a couple nat'l records with it.

Yeah, mine was just a hillbilly hot rod. It would have gone a lot faster, but I didn't get the timing sorted out until I went road racing with that engine. The best I ever did was like 11.95 at 110, but I had the timing way more advanced that I should have and it just killed the top end. It should have run mid to low 11s but, Oh well.
So who is your buddy? Maybe I know the name.
I guess the fastest RD I ever saw run was Tom Turner out of CA. It seems like he was putting his in the low 10s or high 9s at 140+ back then. Pretty awesome runs for a little twin.

thanks :dthumb:
yea i drag my bike, although i only call it my racebike to set it apart from my daily ride. only difference from when i rode it on the street everyday is its a lil lower. still registered, street tire, no wheelie bars, nothing special, its a streetbike. i wanna run my 750(all stock, cept for a slip on), but i havent had a chance yet, maybe in march.
its a hi 9sec bike-i think i can get the 750 in the mid 10's, but idk

was92v, very cool pic dude! [thumbsup] I knew it had to be an RD. I had no idea that those things were that popular. I have been told that the same engine was used in the Banshee quad. ??? I had a built Banshee a few years back that would have done well on something like that, I guess. It sure as hell didn't do so good here in the woods trying to ride with these suckers on their 4 stroke hay haulers. :D

Thanks. I thought the bike looked better without the home made body on it. I'll have to dig out some pics and scan them. My RD350s were the 73-75' air cooled engines.
The banshee used the water cooled RZ350 engine. I imagine a built (or stock for that matter) RZ350 motored anything would be a handful in the woods. BUT, when the trees thinned out you could wave bye-bye to the 4 strokes, IF you could take a hand off the bars while it was roosting thru the power band...:rockwoot:

Oh dude, I made a brand new Rincon 500 look sooooooooo stupid on the highway one day with the 'shee that he went and traded it a few weeks later. :D :D I don't know the extent of what was done to that 'shee before I got it but it was damn fast. Almost too fast to be ridden for fun. :D
PO said it had been bored with flat tops, Weisco Hot Rods, some type of porting on the jug, race cut tranny and I can't for the life of me remember what kind of exhaust it had on it but it sounded uber kewl. It had +2 front arms, +4 rear axle and rode like a cadi in the woods but I just couldn't ride it fast enough to keep her cool. It would get hot and start pinging on me unless I could wind it out for a while. I knew better than to try to ride it where I was, but it was priceless watching those guys behind me looking for cover when I would start slinging rocks at them. :D

Very cool.
My buddy's name is Mark Boulduke (sp?). The 11.08 was his best bracket run, but I'm pretty sure he pulled a low 10 when doing an exhibition run on nitro but I can't confirm that w/o asking him. Don't think he ever broke into the 9's.
