But I think this is the LAST time. We found a place close to town, yet in a country setting. We really weren't serious about moving until we saw this place...it is AWESOME!! No garage, but two storage buildings, a pole barn, a private pond with paddleboat and the water has been tested safe for swimming, new drywall, recessed lighting, 15-18 ft vaulted ceilings throughout, french doors from the kitchen/dining into the living room and second bedroom, new jacuzzi tub and separate shower, 4 skylights, all new windows...this place was gutted and redone inside with new insulation and central heat/air. Pergo wood flooring in the kitchen/DR, addition of half-bath by our master bedroom (which is long enough to have office space for BOTH of us and hang our 37" lcd on the wall and still have room) and HUGE closets.

We said we weren't gonna get excited, but we'd have signed a lease right there if they'd had one handy. We were planning on waiting till summer, but we could not pass this up. We're going to have a new house party of course, but it'll have to wait till we find the patio under all the snow. It has enough parking we could probably have 8 cars over there with room to spare. It's a very country setting, but with the convenience of being smack between two towns and lots of shopping...and it's only about 15 minutes from work instead of the 40+ I drive now. :dthumb:

We sign the lease and give notice here tomorrow.
The front (yeah, that's a mounted Bass over the door )

THERE ya go!! I think that's an awesome idea! Hopefully, we'll be able to come down again in July. I'd love to see y'alls new place. Then you can take a buttburner trip up here on the bikes so we can live vicariously through you. Bike-buying has now been put off another year...

That sounds and looks like a really nice place Angee!! I just hope those vaulted ceilings and skylights don't cost you a fortune to heat in the winter.

not that high...she turned the heat on right when we got there and had to turn it off about 15 minutes later because the place was an oven! We're actually in a second-story apartment, so we'll probably get the benefits of heat rising from downstairs. They used to rent this as an office, and gutted it completely to make it what it is now. Where I am now, we've already spent 1400 bucks on heating oil...our heater only works at 60% efficiency and the landlord replaced his...not ours. EVERYTHING including the central heat/air unit in the new place is brand-spanking-new. It's one level too, so heating should not be a problem. That's one of the many reasons we jumped on this place. It costs more in rent, but we will save a TON on heating it in the winter.

They are going to let us turn the pole barn into a garage/workshop, or we can put a big shed with barndoors on the driveway...it's HUGE.

We are 3 hours (give or take) from NYC...just about 10 miles north of Albany off I-87 (Northway).

Thats not too bad then, the taconic is a fun hwy to ride up that way at least so it makes the ride up more bearable.
