View Full Version : Half helmet review - AGV Dragon

I just bought me a half helmet (AVG Dragon, Size Large) to wear when I ride around the blocks and down the streets. Not intending of hitting the freeway or riding the twisties with it. For an Italian jobber and the low price, it ain't too bad. Good paint job. Liner seems to be well made with that pretty red thread accentuation. I only took it up to 60-MPH but it's a very quiet helmet (more cushion/sound insulation around the ears than a typical full face helmet) and aerodynamics seem to be pretty nice - no buffeting.

It's kinda funky to have air flowing around my lower face and eyes again. It's been ages since I wore half-helmets. My only gripe is that the helmet doesn't have vents for top of the head, so in the summer, your face will be cool but your head will be hotter than hell. I don't know what the rationale is for not having vents for the head.

All in all, I consider this purchase to be money well spent.

My first thought upon seeing it was "I wonder if you can wear it backwards?" like the one pic of that chick on a scooter...

The helmet makes me want to go buy a black KTM motard and strap a submachine gun to my chest.

I have the Stealth Dragon full face. It's a little noisy, but pretty damn comfy.

Funky looking. I like it. But where can I buy it other than from Germany?

They used to have it at designerhelmets.com, but it looks like they've removed them.

Are those the helmets you sent me a link to via phone? The pics were so small I couldn't see them that well...

Naw, these are different. The ones I sent you are Davida helmets.

Hmmm....maybe wrong person. :sorry:

I like the first ones you posted best! :dthumb: But I can't see myself wearing a half lid. :idk:

Those Davida helmets are cool. I need to get me an old Norton cafe racer, that helmet, goggles and cruise Hollywood.

Man, you're practically reading my mind, though in my imagination it's a Triumph. The Davida site (http://www.davida.co.uk I think, and http://www.british-classics.com for the US distributor) sells the goggles I like. They're completely impractical and on the pricey side, but I have a hard time not wanting to buy one of the Racing Series (http://www.davida.co.uk/styles.php?id=7) helmets to complete look.

I've always found the Dragon pretty cool looking... however, I find myself wanting to give that new 3/4 that AGV has out.. the Blade.
