First off, he was never scottish, ever. People always think he's Irish. In reality he was captured as a boy by pirates from his home in England, then sold into slavery in Ireland.

Probably, I'm Catholic and I chose him as my patron saint during confirmation. He's also the patron saint of engineers, and my school.

i don't believe either story..

1 - what is your source that St. Patrick was English? Either way he wasn't Irish. It's still disappointing. It would be like a Muslim being the president of the united states. In all actuality we could argue this all day. They confuse Patrick with Palladius, argue over where he was really born - somewhere near the border of England and Scotland - so really it is feasible that he could be Scottish as some now believe - records from that time frame are sketchy at best. Either way I always assumed he was from Ireland. It was a shocker on Monday to find out he wasn't.

2. Kilians is brewed by Coors not Anheuser Busch. Yes I knew that. It is an Irish like beer. Coors bought the rights to brew and market it like 20 some odd years ago. Anheuser Busch though does now own the rights to alot of different "import" beers like Heinken, Tsing Sao, etc. - I get their yearly stock report and they list all the ones they own and Kilians is definitely not one of them. They probably wish it was especially on St. Patty's day. Most beer is not brewed in its home country and then shipped to the United States - like Beck's is alot different here than it is in Germany. Guinness ships unfermented wort to certain countries that then finish the job at local breweries. Not real clear where the Guinness you get here is actually made but most likely it is made by a local brewer with ingredients designated by Guinness or Diageo plc as they call it. So chances you are going to get a "true irish" beer for St. Patty's day is slim to none unless either you know someone that flew it back with them or you go to Ireland. Not tired of reading yet? Check this out: http://www.ftc.gov/os/1998/04/9710081.cmp.htm
I had no idea that Guinness was so large. $8 billion a year? Damn.

Ahhh yeah you're right. I knew it was one of those shitty beer companies I don't drink unless necessity arises.

Oh, right, if it's catholic it MUST be reliable then.
