have you ridden a zx6r? The previous gen was a great bike and the new ones with the bpf forks and dual bore stacks are supposed to be much nastier. If i had to pick a six it'd be the 09' zx...or a 675 :P

meh beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love kawi's current design. I guess its actually in my favor that most people dont like them should make for some decent picks should i choose to go that way. Look at the size of those strips.
It's been used as a commuter bike ever since he dumped it at the gap. The bike has seen far enough over to scrape pegs as I am a first hand witness to that. Especially since it was cause of scraping the pegs that lifted the rear to cause my bro's lowside. After that he really got out of riding it fast since he didn't have the dough for track days and the gear necessary to do that and just used it to go back and forth to work.

QFT. I rode to work this morning.. testing out my Hero camera (need to buy some Lithium Ion batteries for it.. it doesn't like the alkaline  ). It was a little nippy when I first left the house, but once I got downtown it was comfortable. :dthumb:

03-04-2009, 11:04 AM
the ride yesterday was nice... though on the cool side... and once I stopped for gas about 2-3 miles from Rae's place... I FROZE the rest of the way home...
I climatize to the warm really quickly... cold... not so much
First Impressions of the bike though... sounds like it idles much higher than the ZZR... the sound is odd as it just seems more prominant... but not as loud... :idk: could be my new helmet too...
not as much off the line acceleration as my ZZR... now before you all call bullshit... my ZZR was geared -1F +2R and had an ignition advance... it pulled pretty good below 5k... then really pulled above 10K... between that it was ehh...
The RR isn't bad... just noticed it in parking lots where I was used to my ZZR's on/off switch of a throttle under 25mph. the RR's throttle responce is butter smooth everywhere.
I'm gonna need a double bubble windshield... the lip of the shield goes right across the middle of the guage... so it makes it hard to read... infact leaning forward and looking down THROUGH the windshield was easier than tucking down to see under it... also the shield throws all the air right into my face... so when passing trucks and shit.. I look like fuck'n bobble head.
seat isn't that of a tourer... nor did I expect so... wasn't as hot as I'd thought... but it was all highway and 50's out. so it'd be alot more noticeable in Aug in town.
the bike flicks with ease... the weight difference is very noticeable... the RR is so easy to put where you want... the ZZR took a bit more effort... but the RR doesn't feel as planted at speed as the ZZR... I got blown around pretty good when passing big rigs.
over all.. I'm in love... I can't wait to get her on some twisty's... I was really hope'n to get to ride her at the Gap... but the weather gods wanted to piss on my parade one last time...
Oh... and I need a speedo healer... hate doing an indicated 80 in a 70 and have over half the people pass you... (are they speeding or are you impeeding? :idk:)

I have to agree with the rest, I don't have a gas guage at all. I have two trip odometers, and when Trip B gets to 150, I look to pull over. Eventually. When my gas light starts blinking I twitch and make noises like I'm at a rave. Seriously, at 150 miles it's time for a cigarette. I usually need to smoke or pee long before I need to fill up.

When mine comes on, I pay attention.
I have 25 miles to get gas, if I play nice.
26 miles, and I'm walking.
I have about 30ish when my light blinks and then it goes solid. Once it goes solid, I found out I have about 10 miles left. 9 Miles if I have to go up a long hill.

Awesome...
so uh, you realize its only sposed to be in 50's today right? Still planning n riding back?
50 is amazing... i'd give anything for 50. You guys are too spoiled down there. :panic:
thanks ya'll... now I need to save some money for exhaust and a double buble screen... (top of the screen goes right across my guages... I can't see shit)
That Honda exhaust is pretty quiet. When my friend goes ripping by on his 05 its like a humming whisper. lol

Quiet is not always a bad thing, it would help out tremedously in the summer for me. Cops can't hear you acting a fool.

I do the same thing, and start freaking out when my light comes, even though I know I still have a good 30-40 miles left when it does.
You're going to love/hate riding with me. I have to stop for a pee break about every 45 minutes. I have the bladder of a 6 month old chihuahua :(

True, but unlike Ebbs I am short enough to see my low fuel light!
In fact, it bugs the shit out of me if it comes on at night, so I suppose it could be said that it is a very effective low fuel light.
Yeah, the blinking, "HEY STUPID" is a real attention getter, I immediately start looking but like Quick, I get at least 25, and a good 30 if I play nice...course theres something about seeing that light in the middle of nowhere that makes you speed up!

I went on a week long canoe trip in the boundary waters between MN and Canada a few years ago. Fuckin leave no trace and whatnot is a great thing but a hassle. Had to walk like 50 yards from the campsite, dig at least a 6 inch deep hole, and squat to take a shit.
