Haha, that being said with a biased right hand!

I just can't get over the "Gixxer" stigma. Maybe if i could be known as a GSX-R rider instead.

Plus i've been in love with the last 2 generations of R1, but that is changing this year. It's been a long time since the Suzuki was the best looking jap litre bike....

I've also avoided certain bikes because of the "taint" they had on them. The 750 Gixxers and the CBRs to name two. I clung to Yamaha even tho' for all intents and purposes both the Honda a nd the Suzuki were far superior. I finally came around in 2000 when I took my YZF1000 in for it's 3rd engine rebuild.

It may be location that determine's a bike's popularity and with what crowd. For the longest times Ninja's were the most popular bike here. Everybody had a green ninja. I think they're still pretty damn popular here, but the zuks are closing in on them pretty fast. I see just a little more gixxers (any of them) than I do 'busas. Most of those on 'busas here drag race.

One of the reasons I love my bike is because unless you ride a sport bike, most don't know it's an SV. Although I get my fair share of asking if its' a ninja or a gixxer. Gotta love the guys who try to impress me with knowledge they don't have, especially when they try to combine two completely different bikes that's nowhere near being correct.

I've always liked the gix's. I think I'd be real happy with a 600. :D

Here in columbus the GSX-R had always been the most "seen" on the road. As of 2006/7 though, i've seen a noticable slide to alot of people riding the new gen R6.

GSXR's are still some of the best looking Jap bikes. While they've made their shit uglier over the years....it's still light years ahead of the gawd awful Kawi's and the new R1.

NOW they are, now that all of the other manufacturers have made their bikes increasingly uglier. I mean come on, the new R1 is fugly, the zx10 is horrid, and the CBR1k looks like it was punched in the face. The zx-6 looks like its big brother, and the CBR6 is drawnout, overused, and boring. Now the R6 is fine imo.

But i guess if you are in it for the right reasons... looks shouldnt matter, only performance. But whatever.....

I'm sure they all are pretty awesome and I'd be happy to own ANY of them.

When I bought the two Yammi's in 07...any of the 07's would have been great I'm sure.

I just liked the R1 and R6 the best overall and yes some of that was based on looks. The 07 GSXR 1000 out performed the R1 but they were close enough that with my skills...on the street mostly...that didn't really matter. I can't ride the R1 or R6 to their full potential. Most here can't either...I just don't have a problem admitting it. :idk:

Oh I know I am not going to own up to any new liters performance capabilities. But I am capable of riding them well enough to have a preference! And I also have the abilities to appreciate them all for what they are and can do.

If someone gave me my choice tommorrow, for free, I would have to take the Yammie for lust factor. The CBR is a close second as it sets a new standard for liter bikes, the GSXR is the least desirable for me from a looks and ownership level. The Kawi only inspires a middle of the road kind of 3rd place since it looks identical to its little Bro...But it finishes above the GSXR for me cause it comes in green!

Well I do agree on most all points and that's why I went with the R1/R6...they were my preference and had the highest lust factor as far as Japanese bikes.

I do like the Ducati 1098 but didn't want to spend the $$.

I just said that the performance is so close that on the street where most all of my riding is done and with my abilities...one doesn't really stand out over the other in performance.

My R1 rocks and I think it looks awesome as well.

I've owned Yamaha...Honda and Kawasaki. I admit I've never owned a Suzuki but have ridden them. I did consider the GSXR 750 but went with the R1.

It has the torque in the mid range in spades, flickable yet stable, lite enough with little dimensions and weight distribution to rewrite the book on open class race reps.

The CBR900 started the big power 600 chassis thing and held the title for years, then the R1 and GSXR always one upping it for power back and forth since about 97, then Kawi finally does away with the ZX9 and gets in the game, but the new CBR has turned quite a few heads. Roadracing World ran one to top finishes in a stock lightly modded form, all the other rags I have read (and I read a bunch) say it is heads and shoulders above the RR it replaces. I feel it would run away with any comparo save for the cross plane engine debuting this year...Once again my opinion and my preference. But I insist I am open minded about things and not in the least brand loyal...

Why did you buy 2? Do you use them for different applications or just "Hey i think i'll ride the R6 today."

The Duc has that nice wow factor.... but its uncomfortable as fuck. The R1 is much more comfortable, and honestly, i like the looks of the 07/08 more than the Duc. I know... blasphemy right?

The only thing i would have to say is that it didnt even really run away with the comparos last year. The zx10 has a stompin ass motor and that tainted alot of editors, which made it real close last year.

Now... im not gonna lie, i'd rock the new 09 CBR1000RR Repsol Edition

No not blasphemy...just another opinion like we all have. I have never ridden the 1098 but I do like the looks.

I have ridden a 999R Duc that belongs to another member here. It's a sexy bike indeed BUT my R1 is much more comfy to ride and overall I just like my R1 better. However when they came out with the 1098 I did think humm....I could see me on that bike.

I would have to ride the 1098 to honestly say I'd rather have it but I will say it's about the only bike out that I "might" take over my R1.

As far as why do I have both....well initially I was thinking 600 for the tight twisties and track and the R1 for everyday riding. However that changed when my wife took the MSF course and started riding...she actually owns the R6 now.

I personally think a 750 is about the perfect balance of power and size. I did consider the GSXR 750 but since I had owned a 2000 R1 several years ago and liked it then...I went with another R1.

The 848 Duc is nice but I would buy the 1098 over it all day long.

That 1000RR is sweet and I like Hondas as well.

The FB boys will find the limits of almost anything. Last I read though they thought the CBR would own the Isle of Mann and the other true road races. Anyhow I already said these bikes come down to personal preference and their intended mission.

They all have big advantages, the GSXR with its BPF Forks, the Kwaks isane engine, the CBRs user friendly stable midrange lunge, and the Yamaha has the cross plane crank and true adjustable throttle/traction switch...Everyone has a preference but they all rock.

And on any given track on any given day I bet they would all hold lap record honors for whichever condition it happens to be...

Well the 09 Kawi 600 has them so you would expect the big bro to get them as well. Still I don't know if I am going to notice the diff between the BPF, a good OEM unit, or a reworked drop in Ohlins or other aftermarket unit...I can definitely tell the diff between a factory non adjustable and say, a RaceTech front end, but once you get to these liter bikes and their DLC non stichtion coated uber adjustables I don't know if I am going to benefit...

depends, from what ive read about them. yeah i think so. never hurts to see what they have up their sleeves and worse comes to worse if i dont like it im sure i'll find plenty of 08's and 09's left over. they really arent very popular up here. im also looking to see if they address other little issues with the current bike. I think you need to change out your sig with a pic of the big Zed....

I was wondering about that

you guys do know that the new ZX10 will run circles around the old one and leave everything in the dust except a busa and a ZX14 (not talking mods here)

So that R1 is scarlet and black right? When you opt for that duc... im all over that baby! haha

But isnt it usually the other way around? 600 for street, 1000 for track???

Yes scarlet and black but I won't be doing any new bike shopping anytime soon...according to the wife. :lol

The 600 is easier to flick around on the track...the R1 is easier on the street because I don't have to downshift everytime or at least as often when I want to speed up.

You have to wind the R6 up above 12k to really get the power...but once above 10k or so it wakes right up.

cornering would be where you would get the busa. don't know if you've rode a 14 (I've taken test rides only) but it seems to me to handle better than the 10.

Basically the only 2009 liter-bike that has any shot at being called good-looking :idk:
Honda: total crap, worst of the 4
R1: second-worst
ZX10: looks good from the side, horrible from the front

hell yeah, I'd have a 14 in a heartbeat. would have had one sitting in the garage but he wouldn't come down that extra $500 that I couldn't go up. he just had to keep all of the hold back.

so did a lil snooping around the various kaw forums and read some of the most audacious rumors about next years bike. something about a extra wide split firing order using a hybridised electric motor to keep it spinning at low rpms. sounds like a completely goofy engineering nightmare. might work though, were it true. we'll see
