So I get this call from a woman named Tatiana who claims to be calling from Comcast Cable. She is soliciting me for their new Digital Home Phone service. I am interested but since I am 3 weeks away from moving to a new location, I figure I can get the switching of the service as well as the Phone Line done at once. We played phone tag with a few back to back calls because I was not sure of the new address until I got home...once all was said and done, she then wanted to "verify" all of my personal information. DOB, SS#, etc....That's when the red flag went up.

I told her she should have all of that on file as I have been a customer there for years and I know I gave it when I had the service installed years ago. I asked her for her extension, she claimed not o have one, only a direct number. She asked me to call her back....OK, well what the hell is that going to do? I call the fraud? NO.

I called Comcast directly and asked them if they were aware of any solicitation of my account, or if they had someone named Tatiana who worked in outbound sales or if they had her phone number on file....ALSO...if they had my SS# and DOB on file. They were able to confirm she is NOT an employee, they DO have all my personal info and have no record of her telephone as one of their telephone prefixes. Meanwhile, Tatiana is calling me back 3-4 times wanting to know why it took so long to call her back....none of which I answered. When I did finally call her back, she answered the phone, "Hel....I mean, Thank you for calling Comcast"....so I told her I would forgo the service and not make the upgrade as I did not feel she was verifiable. The bitch then tells me she has spoken to her supervisor and its OK if I don't give the SS# this time, they can get it at the time of set up at the new house and she would go through with placing the order for the new service and call me back to confirm in the morning.

I again called COMCAST and confirmed with them that there is NO order placed for my account and they tell me this is a PHISHING SCAM that has just started and it has been quite successful since most people have Comcast already and the phone service is brand new so its an easy IN for them.

Has her callback number been reported to any sort of fraud investigation entity?

Ask her if she's hot. Tell her you'll be happy to install YOUR cable in HER "place"...

 Agreed

Ask her if she needs some pipe laid as well, and if she's ever had a moustache ride.

Give her the address of the local precinct and their number so she can set up their cable.

Sad thing is, people are prob falling for that scam too! I hope she gets hit by a car today. It would be funny if it was a comcast van.

As expected, no call back from her to confirm the request....

I called Comcast once again and again there is nothing listed for a request for new service on my account. I gave their Fraud Dept the info in hopes they would at least try to do something.
